Not sure if we're still doing this, but...in case we still are...

If the person who wins doesn't want to be moderator (like I'm not sure if Ophiolite wants to be moderator), then the person who has the second largest number of votes...

Whence comes this logic: no evidence = false?

Being moderator suggests one ought to be moderate.
I'm not very good at that. :?

That's a good list. Hard to decide... but I voted for Mac. I think he's got the right attitude for the job.

Of course, I would be okay with any of the list as a mod.

    Cheers

I think the moderator job would be kind of like being a janitor or garbage collector, except without the money or the prestige. Yeah, I know, it's just sour grapes because I'm losing.

I don't think I'd do such a good job moderating the <religion and psuedoscience> forum; I'd probably delete every post.

It's not the winning that counts, it's the taking part....... I know, a complete load of bollocks. At least you made it onto the list.

Here in Dallas, we just finished a nasty run-off election for mayor, that was filled with below-the-belt attack ads. So in the spirit of that!....I officially launch my attack ad campaign against my running mates. :-D

Just as real political attack ads should not be believed by anyone, neither should anyone believe these. :-D

    marnixR:

(Deep ominous announcer voice): Are you thinking about voting for marnixR? ....because marnixR hates puppies (show picture of a really cute puppy) ...that's right HATES PUPPIES!....really...really hates puppies. Do you love puppies?...I know I sure do. So vote for Mac....'cause he loves puppies.

    Harold14370:

(Again with the Deep ominous announcer voice) Harold14370 is running for moderator....but in the 4th grade, he was caught with a cheat sheet for his social studies test in his pocket. How can you possibly trust someone to hold up the integrity of the rules of the board, from someone so willing to bend the rules himself. So vote for Mac....he never got caught cheating.

    more to come

MacGyver, that's a lie. We didn't even have social studies back in those days. It was arithmetic, and how did you find out about that?

I wasn't going to mention it but now that the mudslinging has started.... All of my opponents are suspected to be members of the communist party.

    (fake attack ads cont.)

    Ophiolite:

This ad was originally going to be pulled, since O really isn't in the race, but since we already paid for the ad time...

(Announcer): Ophiolite.....the ONLY person who has ever been officially and permanently banned from Michael Jackson's Neverland ranch. That's right...banned from Neverland. If an essentric, homosexual pedophile doesn't want anything to do with him....why should we?...why should we. Vote for Mac!....he's welcome at the Neverland Ranch.

    MitchellMckain:

(Announcer): Even though MitchellMckain and Macgyver share the same first name......these are two totally different kind of Mitch's. Because...MitchellMckain is a mime. That's right...a black and white wearing, no-talkin, invisible rope climbing mime. Worst of all, he's a member of an International organized mime syndicate....where he holds the rank of Mime under-boss. He has twarted numerous investigations from the Organized Mime Unit of the FBI and Interpol. How can we possible trust the board to some who can't even find his way out of an invisible box? Vote for Mac...he's tough on mimes.

I'm curious as to how you came up with that list.

What if we had a "vote for ban" system? then we would only need one moderator.

And a "vote for edit" button.

But LOL, so the post that needs to be edited and users that needs to be banned is sorted for the moderator and put in an edit list.

It could be enabled with a certain forum rank.

Don't try to fix what aint broken.
As to the rank, all it takes is for one moron to gain that rank and start screwing around with the forum. It would take days for that single moderater to fix it

Actually, all that would be needed is that one person only may cast one vote a day, and only one vote can be casted on each reply.

All I can say is if it aint broke, don't fix it. The current system works just fine, all we need is a moderater that is a little more active.

    Hi Guys,
It seems I'm currently in the lead. But believe me, I would need help. It might be a good idea to have a few others. Something to think about.

I would guess ATOMICPSYCHO (and all other incarnations) and SHOOPERWHOOPER were one and the same. Having a few more mods might help to curtail future "WHOOPERS."

I think you all should seriously consider MacGyver. Nothing against any other nominees, but I've known Mac for a while now and he's been here for about a year, so I don't think he's leaving soon.

"teacher" (with a lower-case "t" as he insisted)... I would venture a guess that he wasn't really a teacher. Thank goodness Skinwalker stepped in.

    Cheers,
    william

BTW, I'm almost always here, but yesterday I wasn't near my usual computer and I popped in when ATOMICPSYCHO was in the midst of "going psycho." As chance would have it though, I popped in on a dial up network, so even if I was a mod, I would have had a hard time cleaning up the place. :x

i don't know - suggest you ask the man himself ?

+ where does it say in the forum rules that selection of moderators needs to be a democratic process - if i was the main bod of a forum i'd make sure i'd get the person i was happy with, not necessarily the same as the one who gets the most votes

(btw, i didn't vote for ophiolite because he said he wasn't interested, otherwise i would have - presumably HomoUniversalis thought he was the best man for the job anyway)

Same here. I just presumed that as we were voting for a new moderator (hence the thread) that was the general idea.

I definitely fear the future of this forum when I see william getting voted for at all. As I recall, his posts consisted of nothing but flaming ad-hominems at me while I was attempting a discussion.

Moderator material he does not make. He is too prone to anger, and I'm certain injustice would follow.

The best choice is Ophiolite. During his moderation, I noticed not one unfair action. Not to mention he has better personal control than I do (A good moderator I do not make), and definitely moreso than william.

On the other hand, Mitch might make a good moderator. Though I believe at one point he expressed his disdain for such a position. Out of all on the list, those two are the only applicable ones. The others would be nothing but trouble.

Side Note: MacGyver1968 might be okay, but I'd still prefer the stability of Ophiolite, or the experience of Mitch. But "new blood" works too.

Call it paying back all the times you childishly threw layer after layer of nothing but ad-hom posts because I was regulating your ad-hom posts.

Gentlemen, lets keep it civilised on all counts. I know there is some history here, but lets leave history for the history forum and restrict it to whether the yanks knew in advance that Pearl Harbour would be bombed.

i suppose all the jews left pearl harbour prior to the attack, just like they did with the twin towers ? or so rumour has it ?

it would make a nice conspiracy theory anyway

PS ophiolite, i notice that your ratings in the poll have risen - does that mean you're stuck with the moderator's job ?

For all intents and purposes, lets hope he does get the moderating job.

As for leaving history behind me, we'll see if William still likes to terrorize unsuspecting victims first. 8)

Please don't ruin Ophiolite's life by making him a moderator!

In case anyone was wondering, this is the "discussion" which incited Jeremy's hatred of me.

By the way... he was a moderator at that time....

    MacGyver1968 For President..

Lets face it, anyone who can outrun Police in Texas for 5 hours in an empty Greyhound bus destroying 31 patrol cars and ripping up 200 yards of chain link fence (as seen on 'The world's wackiest police videos') deserves it.

It's a long story...but it had to do with a science experiment gone bad...way bad. Somebody mentioned that we needed a large movable mass... and I thought "greyhound bus"...I wasn't going to keep it long...but before you know it, there were sirens and all this shit....and I know I shouldn't have taken those 15 hits of PCP....next thing you know..I'm hanging upside-down by the seat belt.

It was a proud moment of science.

That would totally make a great public service announcement for tv....you know the ones...where they get a tv actor to tell us how to keep our shit together. I think Bill Nye "the science guy" would be the perfect choice....then they flash the "NBC cares" logo.
