Website Not Secure is the message I get when I login. i've mentioned this before and I wonder if its true. Is there a way to test? Sometimes I get the feeling advertisers are watching what we post about, looking for key words. Is it a coincidence when I start seeing advertisements for things mentioned? If we all commented on refrigerators, would we start seeing ads for one?

    What, in this thread?
So I would mention refrigerators too?
Do you see ads when you are logged out ?
    Say fridges again?

Nothing about refrigerators here but I haven't checked all my devices. I'll keep writing refrigerator and see what happens

On another website I am getting an ad for something I searched on ebay this morning (unless it was last night)

Ebay searches may produce ads quite readily I would guess.

Maybe search for this thread when Google has cached it in an hour or so.

Just select a bit of the thread containing fridge ,surround it in quotes and search. It should come up and then we will see if Google was paying attention.

    www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&client=ms-android-samsung&source=android-browser&q=still+I+can%27t+see+it+in+that+refrigera tor.

Here is my effort and Google doesn't have it cached yet

You have to add quotes at the google page to pinpoint the selection ....

I will guess that "refrigerator" is the original spelling and "fridge" is the bastardised version that was adopted later.

....well "frige" might not work as well as "refridgerator" would (you would have to pronounce it with a long "i". I think.

Was occupied by Spain for 300 years and the USA .it looks like

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippines

So th "F" was perhaps Spanish writing and the "Ph " American.

I met a Thailand woman this summer and asked her who they were colonized by and she said "no one"

Said there were downsides to that though (economic development slower she thought)

The website has a prefix http: rather than https:. which means the data being transmitted is not encoded. That is why there is the warning.

Thanks mathman. Would that mean my e-mail address is available for someone to send me ads, offer free gifts, free spins and dating services? even refrigerators?

I doubt that. There are areas on this site that are off bounds to Google and other search engines(e.g. Trash).
So I doubt Google would have access to your email address as the website should not share that with Google.

Well I did do several searches that included the word "fridges" a good few times (for the purpose of checking whether or not google had cached the page. Perhaps it was the searches that brought up the fridge advert rather than the actual content of this page.

I am guessing you may not have got that ad if you didn't do the same searches....

I suspect it dep.comends on where your e-mail address is posted. My own experience, using @gmail.com, I get ads when my address is made available because I had signed on and it got passed to others. @gmail.com has a spam filter which is quite effective.
