The list of forums contains the identity of the last item updated for each forum. However the title of the particular item in the forum is not updated, although the content is.

I have sent a report under the "Contact Us" button.

Let's hope there is someone at the wheel

I’ve noticed that with the dog/wolf thread in Biology
however, a quarter of a hour later the summary page HAD updated, so maybe it’s just a delayed action ?

well, this one appears to have updated properly
however, there’s another annoying feature, which is the Database Error page which appears when you post anything, even though the post can subsequently be found in the thread

In the site feedback list, this post has the date of the original post but not of any following comments.

Someone is trying to tweak the database again which is also used by other forums. Have to be patient.

If there are database problems then it's likely a database tuner is fiddling with it. What other explanation could there be?
When this forum lost 2 years of data, it happened to others.

I assumed that the software had degraded spontaneously since the last time it had been repaired.

What "others"? Other forums that also lost 2 years of data? Which?

If you look in the Politics forum, there is a post about Brexit, which gets updated daily. The last date in the forum list is Feb. 10, presumably when the bug showed up, even though the posts continue.

One thing I've noticed today is the Trash Can now appears as a subform on my mobile devices (phone, iPad) when it never did before. It used to only appear when I used my PC. Maybe that's a sign someone is working on the site or it could be a fluke. Anybody else have the same problem with Trash Can as I had?

Never really paid attention to that. Can't say if there has been any change.

See that last post in the Trash Can has been using white font on white background.

Just somebody trying to be clever. S/he liked it so much they tried a duplicate. I figure there's a photo supposed to be whited out too. Didn't work first time or second. I've used white/white if I had to hide an answer to a riddle.

Maybe UA should try it for that paper he has.

I take a break from here for a few weeks and you guys break things... Jeez. This is why we can't have nice things. lol Kidding of course. Although this does make me worried that the forum may take another dive down to total loss of function.

Managed to post new thread without any of the usual BS today.

Maybe so ,but your post (the one I am quoting) is not showing up under "Activity Stream"

Let's hope things are getting better rather than falling apart for now.

(I got the Database Error message with this post btw. )

My "In the News" thread went off without a hitch. However posting is a different matter.

I'm seeing post counts on some threads. So maybe things are getting better.

The Follow On Word Game is not creating a new page for the 5001st post.

There is already a new Follow on thread started as a result of the 5000 post limit on threads....

Thanks. I was not sure if 5000 posts was a limit for threads or not.

Pretty sure it is a bug of some kind...not a bona fide limit to the threads.

Thanks for the info geordief. It seems every 100 posts you make on a thread page when there is site trouble leads to a dead end.

Seem to remember fairly recently a separate ,perhaps related issue when by going into General Settings and changing the "Number of Posts to show per page" setting it was possible to see posts on the "next page" which was otherwise hidden

Seems similar to this problem but I think it must be different as this is a nice round number in this case (5000 posts and not just a new page)

Have sent another report under the Contact Us button:

"There still is no improvement in the ongoing failure to show new posts on the website.
Have you given up trying to fix it?" is what I wrote in the box

    For what it is worth.....

Also "replied" to my registration email from back in 2009. No hope of an answer of course.

Yes it is still playing up .I was able to post in it (twice) but the posts disappeared very quickly.

I expect the new Brexit thread is still working though.

I wonder should I point that out to them now that most of the problems seem to be solved. Give it a day or so to think on it I suppose.
