When you click on edit, it says edit/delete, but then I don't see the delete option. I sometimes get duplicate posts when my connection is unstable. It looks like it hasn't posted but it has.

As far as I know only mods can delete posts/threads. If you want it deleted report it and request removal.
You could also reopen the thread that you've posted and delete everything that you want to then put a statement asking to delete the thread and the mods will see that.
Often you will see an empty post where the poster has returned to highlight and thereby delete the words/images of their post. Usually when they do this, they will provide the explanation 'duplicate post'. I believe only Mods can actually delete or move the numbered post box in it's entirety.
There was a delete option until fairly recently. It would stay active for 5-10 minutes or so after posting or until another post was made in the thread. Seemed to (if I can recall correctly) vanish around same the time the "like" button went awol.
