it seems that the bar located under your display pic shows how many times you posted and if you have so much youll get a new title so this post will allow us ot increase or rating,,, hhaahaha,,,hehehehe

It also seems that moderators have the power to enter your post and delete any that they consider a frivolous use of bandwidth.

Let's keep the insults down, even when they are arguably deserved.

But seriously.... is that how it works: the more you blabber, the higher your rating?

I guess it'd be hard to come up with an automated method to evaluate post quality rather than quantity!

I see that as a major pitfall for information overflow on the web in general. I have known people who check the spelling of a word by counting the number of hits in google, according to the motto "quantity equals quality!". Sheesh!

Counting and publishing the number of posts is ok, but when that number is assigned a quality rating such as "freshman" or "professor", it's loaded with unjustified judgement. As a scientist I have to object to such illogical and unethical labels. Of course, as soon as I am a professor, I will change my mind about this.

Something like the physicsforums rating system?

Can we have a qualifications section in the profiles btw?
As is often the case with technical subjects we are presented with an unfortunate choice: an explanation that is accurate but incomprehensible, or comprehensible but wrong.
