The forum will be adding two new moderators in the near future. We are seeking input from the general membership in the form of nominations. This is not an election. The site owner retains the final decision. However, in all probability, the candidates receiving the most votes, or nominations if you will, and who are willing to take the job, will join the moderation team.

Members may nominate as many candidates as they want; however, of course, you may cast only one vote per candidate. Nominations will be closed 1 week from today.

I'm sure he's too smart to take it, but I would nominate SpeedFreek.

He'll get even with me for that

I thought of that, but if somebody wants to nominate a bunch of fringe candidates, it won't affect the outcome anyway. Now, if some idiot wants to submit 100 names, or something like that just to be a pest, then they can be dealt with appropriately.

    I will nominate Strange.

Here is the tally so far
Adelady - 6, An apparent shoo-in to join our exclusive club, should she choose to accept it.
    Speedfreek, MeteorWayne - 3 each
PaleoIchneum, John Galt - 2 each
Markus Hanke, Strange - 1 each

As my first choice was adelady I'd like to take up two unused option nominations to fill any additional vacant positions. John Galt and MeteorWayne. westwind.

I will second the nomination for strange, 1.) for the number of posts and 2.) I have not logged on once without him already been logged on night or day!

For Qantime. You have just become my favourite connection on Science Forum. Them's the breaks. Thank you from the bottom of my weak old heart Qantime for your Nomination. Truth being I am still cutting my baby teeth in these Forums. I don't need the extra money. I'm sure MeteorWayne and John Galt would be there for me if I was short a few dollars. Once again, many thanks, I'll be rewriting my Will shortly and you are on the Short List. westwind.

Hardly a good criterion to be choosing moderators on. He is on the list for quality posting and general good service to the forum, as are the rest.

It's only a very short list KALSTER, but you are certainly included. But seriously, I may be able to string a few words together, some words I do not understand myself, and hopefully I am adding some basic interest to the Forum. However, this is a Science Forum, there are capable Members orientated towards Scientific interests and explanations for the benefit of other Members. My strengths are otherwise. No, lets get the experienced Science Forum Members into these vacant Moderator positions, and leave poor old westwind to his own devices. westwind.

Q: What is the name of the first electricity detective?
    A: Sherlock Ohms

A neutron walked into a bar and asked, "How much for a drink?" The bartender replied, "For you, no charge."

Q: What is the simplest way to observe the optical Doppler effect?

A: Go out at and look at cars. The lights of the ones approaching you are white, while the lights of the ones moving away from you are red.

If all the candidates are on the list for quality posting and general good service then are we not allowed to come up with our 'criterion' for differentiating?
And surely being perstistantly online has to be a benefit for a mod, as I can't see how anyone could do the job if they weren't.
    So maybe you were joking?

Apologies for any confusion, it was a rather obvious attempt at comedy with the jokes being out of context, to show that I could do things in a non-serious manner and I thought you guys may find it amusing. I guess we all have different senses of humor.

The polls are now closed. Since there is a tie for second place, we have decided to add three moderators instead of two. The new moderators will be Adelady, Meteorwayne and John Galt.

I haven't contacted any of these members to confirm that they want the job. However I will go ahead and promote them to moderator.

To the new moderators, if you want to decline the position, let one of the admins know or make a post on the moderator forum.

    Congratulations.

Considering your posting style and content, and the value of your posts, as well as the patience you display (most of the time ), it seems unlikely you have much to worry about
