A couple quick questions..... is there anything on these forums similar to the Mission Update threads at the old SDC forums? If not, what are the chances of making a section of the forum devoted to current mission updates?

very low chances. There isn't enough specific interest to warrant a section devoted to it. However, the astronomy/cosmology section would be a good place to post if thats your interest
