Did people, the admin, and/or others dislike scienceforums.net or hypography?

As a note, I've been around scienceforums.net, hypography, thechemicalforums, sciencemadness, etc... for over 5 years. I've seen a lot of changes.

It seems like this web forum attempts to be all-encompassing.

I'm wondering if someone would be willing to explain why this web forum was created.

The creator of this forum wanted to create a science forum because he is probably interested in the opinions of other people. To see the differences of people and to perhaps learn more.

Maybe he was just bored and found something interesting to do with his time.

PS. Weren't you consumed by a volcano Albert?

I personally have never been to either of those forums (not that I can remember anyway).

We've been around for at least 5 years if not longer. It's just a community of like-minded folks who get together and discuss various science-related issues. We're not the busiest "science" forums on the net, but we have a steady, regular membership.

    Welcome!

Normally I would think anyone starting a website would prefer using .com, first, then .org if .com was being used. As for "all encompassing", this forum and the first two on your list have all added a good many sub-forums over the years, this one no different than Hypo or the Original (as they call themselves).

I'm not sure, but there seems to be a consistency in many Science Forums as to style and technic and I've wondered if at some point or even today if the actual owner/owners or co-owners are not one in the same in some cases. This would include Sciforums, The Physic Forum, Frost Cloud, Science and Philosophy and a few others I've visited.

As for 'Like Minded' membership, no public forum science, political or other is going to be around very long and this forum has would be no different, especially in today's market. Like minded or agreeable content can be found on thousands of blogs and I doubt many ever join these science forums just to agree with someone. The Staff here is pretty well split on ideology and moderation is open for discussion, IMO leaning toward arrogance in control or voicing opinions, with several exceptions (the owner and at least three moderators, I'll occasionally join in their sub forums).

Genecks, I do recall you from the Original, don't recall that user name on Hypo, but a good many folks and frankly the better posters (excusing myself) have been active on both those and this one, over the years, with the same or near same user names or in reverse from here to there. I've welcomed them and will now you...

This forum was actually partially started as an exercise in search engine optimization and maintained as just a general service to the people. At this point it's a break even situation financially and as I see it just doesn't hurt anyone. Each forum has it's own unique flavor and characteristics and as such a different set of members. I have no plans at shutting this forum down any time in the future.

The forum is what it is, a place for like minded people to come and discuss topics of interest to them. Are there other places to do the same thing, but of course. Then again that's true for anything at this point on the internet. It's about what fits the individual. Personally I prefer the keep it simple concept.

At the time my career was coding websites in primarily PHP. I had a theory on URL layout and search engine ranking that I wanted to test. It's proven very effective.

    Nice!
This forum have a first place for science forum on google search.

It can prove as one of the best community online if the admin does some more effort to increase our community or he sells it to someone who is interested in building science communities.

I would have liked to own this forum as I am a young 17 year boy interested in and studying SEO , Web development and science(Physics) who also runs some websites , but i don't have money!!

Any way , I suggest admin to increase our community and establish it as a organized and formal science community.

I go on science forums now and again, even though I dont come here often anymore, I always return to this forum. I agree with its simple layout/structure.
