The 'mitchianity' was taken from another member who first coined it (note I'm member #2)- to provoke mitch to think himself, instead of unilaterally declaring that atheists = fundamentalists.

These particular atheists do not respect the religion views of others, and look at anyone that has any spiritual belief in them, especially those who know science (who should clearly know better!...=mitch for example,) as being deliberately stupid, and deliberately ignoring the basis of science - proceeding on conclusions based on facts, gathered by experiment, alone. It is simple fact we atheists follow; not being pricks. Those spiritual people do the same thing lunatics do. Why should anyone respect them?

This claim of fundamentalism is given to provoke atheists, because the smart asses pulling the stunt know that accusing someone of the very fundamental opposite to their 'identity' would piss them off immensely, imbalancing their thinking, and making them look foolish in return.

It bounces off of me with no effect. So sorry I don't run into the corner sucking my thumb and saying "a spirit-believing guy showed me SCIENCE IS WRONG!"

    Honestly. lol for eternity.

Aside from this, the self-same people who believe themselves unilaterally declare 'belief' where it clearly doesn't apply. For the same reason they declare "fundamentalism".

You cannot believe/disbelieve facts. You can decide to reject them because they unbalance your own beliefs that you want to have.

This is what sticks in the craw of people like mitch. If SkinWalker can't see the 'personal attacks' that started with mitch's declarations over a year ago, then he doesn't look very deep into things.

It's very clear that this board is made up of people who simply want to push their own doctrines, and a very few actual scientists who rest upon facts and proofs. I've got better things to do with my time than cycle through an endless repetition with people like mitch who will fiercely hold onto belief, perverting science whenever it threatens his little world.

He may get the last word, but my leaving this lunacy doesn't mean for one second that I concede any defeat at all.

    Remember that.

If the previous post is to be considered an off-topic 'rant' then there are LOADS of posts by mitch that also need to be assigned to such a thread.

    Should I hunt 'n' paste?

I found it amusing that you would seemingly condemn others for what you do a great deal of the time. I gather from the foregoing that Mitch has accused you of being a fundamentalist atheist. From what I understand that phrase to mean and what I have seen of your posts, he has it spot on.

However, I also have serious reservations about your ability to discern the doctrines of others. Simply because I stated science and religion are compatible, and made some other remarks about evidence for some form of a God, you leapt the conlcusion that I was a bible toting believer. Even when I pointed out that I was neither a theist, nor a deist, you continued to suggest I was twisting the facts to fit into my religious beliefs. It doesn't speak well of your discernment.

So, just to make it clear for you I am a devout agnostic. I take my agnosticism very seriously. I am sure of my doubt and certain of my ignorance. If creationists repeatedly refere to me as an atheist I get cheesed off. The same happens when a proponent of scientism, such as yourself, accuses me of being some kind of Christian, or other sect. Please don't do it again.

Sensei I admire your passion and righetousness for upholding deceny in debate and mutual understanding, I really do. There are people sometimes who lack in social understanding of how to interact with others.

Obviously Mitchell and perhaps some other members have been lacking these skills with discussing topics with you. I actually believe that it is not their lack of skills nor anything at fault with either parties involved, rather your devotion to your ideologies sensei that mitchell and others lose patience with you and as such remove their 'social masks' and be a little forthright with you or blunt.

Perhaps it would be best for you to not take their beliefs or mannerisms seriously. We are all human and have our flaws. We all believe different ideals and beliefs and usually defend these as they (if they seem incorrect) threaten our security of self knowledge and education. After all, who wants to be proven wrong after years and years of devotion?

It is religion, we all have our beleifs on the matter as Ophiolite has pointed out and sometimes it is sheer ignorance that allows for confusion when these topics are discussed (such as Ophiolite being labelled 'Atheist' rather than the Agnositc he is (which totally different). It is easy for discussions to 'go south' when these beliefs are not understood.

Mostly we all after justifying our beliefs with logic tend to get emotional, when that happens we all get emotionally involved and invested. Perhaps mitchell has and this is what you are picking up on. Perhpas the same for mitchell with you. The point is is that it is religion, our beliefs and others beliefs will never be the same as we are all unique and are all different.

Perhaps you should consider simply not always defending your point of view when someone else fails to see yours. It is easy to get frustrated and rightfully upset when others fail to see your point of view (which is essential for discussion), and it is also easy for the situation to become emotional. Simply stay detached and remember, if they cannot see your point of view, thats fine.

Personally in my opinion you seem like an younger version of me. Willing to put out my beliefs as fact and trying to persuade others to see my point of view. When that failed I would get upset and angry.

At the end of the day, we all do the same. We just learn to control this as we get older as we realise that it simply is not worth it, and our opinions are about as worthless as dinosaur currency. As long as we believe what we want and stand by our beliefs, that is all that matters for our character and for who we are and stand for. These may change as we age, and the younger that lesson is learned, the better.

PS I understand what you mean sometimes about people being very snidy and sneaky, they can and often do. But at the end of it all. Who cares? Its the internet, and if people feel they have to hurt my ego to make themselves look better or feel better then go ahead, I personally don't care, it just showcases how pathetic some people can be. Then again they are only being that way to defend themselves and their ego because they feel hurt and neglected in their past, and probably were.

We are all here for science, we all think the same way (more or less) and as humans we all behave the same way, we all have the same fears, dreams aspirations and hopes that guide us along in life. We are all here on this forum, and we all have our differences. Some people I enjoy and some blatently piss me off but I love them all the way they are and wouldn't change any of them. Including us.

    Hope my little rambling helped.

Excellent post Quantime. Times move on. The young become more balanced and the aged just become grumpier.

However, until and unless C-Sensei takes on board some of what you have said I shall just continue with my view that he is so narrowminded he can look through a keyhole with both eyes at the same time.

Think what you want, jackass. You are arguing in your post FOR some tenents of religion. You have got be among the deluded idiots to believe anything of any of that at all.

I sure as shit don't need any lecturing from any of you liberal pansies that 'respect' the 'beliefs' of others about what I am or am not in terms of the bare facts that I express. you guys have made it abundantly clear that the one factor you all share is beliefs. I say that don't have beliefs; I only use facts, and that pisses you all off to no end.

Go climb a tree for all I care. I have better places to be.
