I was trying to find another way to get a gold molecule from plated materials and i was refering to aqua regia. My thread was locked stating it was to dangerous to oneself and or others. But as I read the sticky I found multiple other areas in the chem forum that are far more dangerous then what I was attempting. I think if your going to be biast the you need to be not so selective as to what you do. Just because some one is not versed well in chem fomulas doesnt mean you should give up. Knowlegde would not be attained in this world if we just gave in to people and left the subject alone. Mr. chemboy I am sorry but you need to excuse my ignorance on the subject but learning comes with risks to everyone no matter how big or how small the project. Cleaning your house is a chemical nightmare but treating people as childish as that is rediculous and unworthy to science and the advancment of it. I thought maybe their was a safer way then the harsh acids and maybe thier and maybe their isnt but toying with the idea that you can is better then just kicking the idea completely. I wish you the best in your endevoure as moderator but you should look at you topics and see that some of them are far more dangerous and yet they are not locked please be as kind to more biast then not.

most of those dangerous threads are abandoned before they have a chance to get locked. Honestly, I feel that if there is sufficient enough material in one of the chem threads to prove too dangerous it should be trashed or archived out of existence.

The biggest issue with your thread was you, being someone not versed well in chem, shouldn't start with such a dangerous project but should first start smaller, like learning the chemistry behind brass pennies or how to electroplate. When it appears as if you are going to do something that can potential end your life, we'd rather you were as versed in chemistry as humanly possible before hand instead of just given some steps to follow.

Right. It means you should study more.

Likewise, knowledge would not be attained if you blundered into hazardous experiments without mastering the basics. More than a few of the pioneering alchemists died as a result of bad chemistry. You state in your other thread that it couldn't hurt to try. Responders said otherwise and you argue again. You oppose some intelligent members who we might presume to be proffessionals this field, or related ones. They are sending a clear message that the inexperienced are not to use this forum to promote and acquire dangerous science.

I have not been mod forever, and I've been strict about potentially harmful threads for a shorter time than I've been mod. Any other threads like that that you see in there have fallen out of popularity and are no longer being posted in. I'm not trying to stop you from learning, I'm only trying to protect you from things that could very easily harm you.
