it's been a grumble i've had for some time, but seeing others make the same comment in this post i've thought i should bring the subject up : i hate video-only posts

by all means illustrate the point you want to make with a video, but what i want to see is what the poster has to say about the topic s/he has started or commented on

+ as an aside : i can't see youtube videos at work, so don't expect everything to get the point you're trying to make if there's no additional explanation

I agree as far as it being about people posting a video and asking opinions. I see its ok for a conversation but verzen should raise points and then reference the video it will bring more point and meaning to the post, which is desperately needed.

100% agreement. I will not look at any link, video or otherwise, that simply opens with a 'What do you think about this?'

I have a generic response to such a query, I do not post it because it would infringe forum rules. I think it would be acceptable in this thread since it is not directed against any specific person.

"What do I think about that? I think there are two possibilities. The first is that you are too lazy, thoughless and self-centred to be bothered to give us a brief insight into what the link contains, and expect us to invest our time in pursuing your interests. That is discorteous, counter-productive and unscientific. The second possibility is that you are an undereducated prat with the brain power of a retarded hedgehog who believes that what they think is immediately transparent to the entire planet, and that what interests them will entrance everyone else. In either case I have no wish whatsover to look at your link. Piss off."

Where the videos or other links are accompanied by comment, or where the links illustrate a point in the argument then I am in 100% favour of them.

A video should be treated as a reference.

A point needs to be made, and a video can serve as a reference material for the argument.

Feel free to use it at any time as long as you promise to smile broadly when you do so.
