Okay, I know there are a number of threads on this subject, but, in the interest of carrying out an actual debate, I thought I'd restart a thread with some basic structure to it.

There are no topics of discussion off limits in the debate, so long as the topic has to do with the central theme: whether or not gods exist.

I would like to see a basic formats to the posts that will help make things easier:

Quote each section of a post that you are responding to before typing your actual respons. This helps make things more clear for readers, and I don't think that's much to ask.

When arguing from empirical evidence, cite sources that are CREDIBLE.
Sources are not neccessary for a philosophical arguement, but they are welcome.

No soap-box preaching. If you ignore what others have to say, and refuse to acknowlege their evidence or counter arguements, then expect to be ignored yourself. This is a debate. Ignoring a counter-claim is not a debate, it is ignorant and cowardice.

Avoid ad-hominem. I say avoid knowing that this will inevitably occur, given the nature of the debate.

With that, let the debate begin.

"Sire, I have no need of that hypothesis." - As Laplace said when Napoleon wondered how the famous mathematician could write his book without mentioning God.
