My grandfather was a mason, and he was a prick, never told me what the mason thing was all about. I imagine a smoky room full of old men swilling whiskey and leering at ugly hookers.

My great-grandfather was a mason and, though i didn't know him, I'm pretty sure he didn't get any incredible revelations from the masons regarding the depths of the metaphysical, or he probably would have let some info slip through the cracks and become family wisdom - there wasn't much family wisdom in my family (in my humble opinion), hence my impression regarding the masons.

Spidergoat - I think you are describing the elk's lodge, not the masonic lodge, but it could apply to the masons too, I wouldn't know.

    Here ya go truth:

It (Satan) is that Angel who was proud enough to believe himself God; brave enough to buy his independence at the price of eternal suffering and torture; beautiful enough to have adored himself in full divine light; strong enough to still reign in darkness amidst agony, and to have made himself a throne out of this inextinguishable pyre.

Were'nt they the folks who knocked off Lincoln and JFK ?

I've once heard it's sorta like a huge mafia that operates to this day.

Heck, I've even heard them called the modern-day KKK,
except that they're not racist per say.

Conspiracy nuts call "9/11" Mason's Day.

    Who knows?
    Who cares?

I think that this whole masionic thing is just a bunch of war veterans that hate life. But the only thing I know for sure is that women love men with english accents, unless those women are from England.

    What does that mean?

To this ignorant Yankee, that sounds like, 'It's a lot like the sky, but it's not blue.'

But perhaps, it's more like, 'It's a lot like the ocean, but dry', which is, actually, a good description of the desert.

Even the terms refer to the funny titles and silly arcana, the Masons predate the Klan, so how could they be a modern version?

    What am I missing?
Why do they want us to believe Conspiracy Theories?

I think the Masons are a secret organization started to fulfill the craving of men for magical ritual and spiritualism after it was wiped out by Christianity in their campaign against pagan practices. I think the ideas were Christianized to some degree, and it was probably kept secret to avoid persecution by the Christian Church.

My roommate is a member, has been for years, and he's only 27 years old. It's not some mystery religion or anything, it's a pretty mundane group. For some reason there's a lot of myth and folklore regarding them, though.
