In one of the verses, we are informed that the mountains are not motionless as they seem but that they are in constant motion:

(You will see the mountains you reckoned to be solid going past like clouds. Such is the artistry of God, who disposes of all things in perfect order; surely He is Aware of what you do.) (Surat an-Naml, 88)

This motion of the mountains is caused by the movement of the earth’s crust that they are located on. The earth’s crust sort of floats over the mantle layer, which is denser. ...... [more]

In the Qur’an, which was revealed 14 centuries ago at a time when the science of astronomy was still primitive, the expansion of the universe was described like this:

( And it is We who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We who are steadily expanding it.) (Surat adh-Dhariyat: 47) .... [more]

i'm not sure that some sixth century work of fiction by an unknown one off author who claims everthing was his making, is a science subject.

I've found a reference in 'Alice in woderland' to 'tweedle dee and tweedle dum' which according to Humpty Dumpty ["A word means what I say it means"] indicates one is a particle the other a wave!

I Also reckon the Cheshire cat is a reference to the formation of a black hole.

The koran is the same work of human mythology in written form that says the Earth appeared after the stars were formed.

This and this alone are enough reason to dismiss the koran as anything but a work of complete fiction.

Don't try to liken an iron-age work of fiction to a scientific work please. Moreover, evangelism and preaching are highly frowned upon here. The ignorant authors of the koran were hardly speaking of plate tectonics when they wrote of mountains that "shall move about" or "heavens that shall reel about." Instead, they were using magical thinking processes. If you want to impress us, show the koranic verse that describes mid-oceanic ridges, sea-floor separation, subduction, and the asthenosphere.

Fascinating, I use to believe that the Cheshire cat was the father of the big bang !

Indeed that was once the case for many, however modern scholars have pointed out that matter dissappears upon entry to another world, leaving behind rays which eminate outwards, much like the whiskers of a cat, the grin is interpreted as meaning the 'freezing' of time.

this guys put religious statements in earth sciences, medicine and astronomy as well. at least before if i wasnt in the mood for someone preaching i could just avoid the religion section, now its in the others too.

Their argument will be "religion effects all areas" but im not sure where this site is moderated from US or UK. but as far as i know we dont teach the koran in US or UK(come to think of it anywhere in europe) school and university science lessons

thats just kept for religious studys

sorry moderator if im speaking out of place but....

And? What exactly is the purpose of posting old news articles without comment?

So someone swopped religions, happens all the time between all the miriad of religous groups.
As is often the case with technical subjects we are presented with an unfortunate choice: an explanation that is accurate but incomprehensible, or comprehensible but wrong.

The real question is why do religious fanatics find it necessary to seek out science boards to proselytize their primitive superstitions.

If it isn't christian nutters it's islamic ones.

One is left to wonder if they're just looking for an argument most of the time, but some just seem to have insecurities about their faith when the lengths they go to in order to justify their superstitions is observed.

Thread after thread about how this superstition or that is embraced by this person or that. One appeal to authority after another.

Clearly there is insecurity and justification at work.

You quoted about four people turning to Islam in three forum threads. This must be a rare, surprising event!

Is it your intention to overwhelm the forum by quoting one convert per thread?

I am sure we would all like to wish Viacheslav Polosin the very best on his recent conversion. Quite why this should have made world news and have many references on the Internet I can only assume is due to being perhaps an infrequent event, or even a first time.

profahmfaw, please keep all your evangelism in one thread in order to allow us to find it more easily. I think one thread appealing to the authority of someone who has converted to islam is more than adequate.

profahmfaw you need to read some stuff by this muslim, he talks alot more sense than you

Former dean of Islamic law at Qatar University 'Abd Al-Hamid Al-Ansari

heres a transcript for you to read

'Abd Al-Hamid Al Ansari: Our satellite channels deserve the name "media of terrorism." They spread among the youth ideas that might not be considered outright terrorism but spread extremism. Such extremism is the beginning of violence and fanaticism, and violence leads to terrorism. Fanaticism - extremism -violence - terrorism.

When you host key figures [on TV] - either religious personalities or extremist personalities of a specific ideology… Anyone who disagrees with them is considered a traitor or a collaborator. When one guest is a nationalist, the other is a traitor and collaborator. When one guest is a religious figure, the other is considered deviant, with false beliefs. Such a guest pours his wrath out on the West and on Western culture. He starts by saying: "Look what they are doing to the Muslims," "The materialistic West," "The permissive West," "The US is the enemy of Islam and the Muslims."

What do such expressions instill in the souls of the youth if not hatred? At the same time, he depicts the past as glamorous and glorious - "The beautiful Caliphate," and so on. When a young man listens to such depictions and compares them to his own situation, with its many tragedies... Who does he blame? He blames others, not himself. He doesn't assume responsibility for the situation.

Oppression of intellectuals by intellectuals is worse than oppression by governments. I'm afraid of intellectuals like myself, who push me to the sidelines and call me a traitor and an infidel, more than I'm afraid of the governments. Today the governments give room for freedom, and they are the ones that protect us now.

The civil society organizations, which are supposed to protect liberties and democracy, are the ones that oppress the intellectuals and accuse them of treason and of being at odds with them.

Look what the Jordanian unions are doing. They applaud Saddam and still feel sorrow for the fallen regime. The Arab Lawyers Association has compiled a team to defend Saddam, and they haven't said a word about the mass graves.

After 50 years of enlightenment, education, and modernization, along comes someone like Bin Laden, like Saddam, like Al-Zawahiri, like [Sleiman] Abu Al-Gheith, someone like Al-Zarqawi… We need to act as Germany upon its defeat.

The German elite reexamined its culture and found that the entire German culture is full of poison. Its sources are full of poison

seems to talk alot more sense than the cr*p that rolls out your mouth and shows how it can be done, he has no interest in preaching your cr*p

this was broadcast on the well known Bahrain TV, i can pass you the video link incase you think its fabricated :-D

The OP is copy/pasting text from other websites in violation of fair use and the violations I've noticed have been cleaned up to make our site compliant.

In addition, it's helpful for readers of this thread to know the identity of the individual profahmfaw is citing. The original author is Adnan Oktar who writes as Harun Yahya. Oktar is a staunch anti-semite and has written books and articles denying the holocuast as well as using tired and debunked christian creationist arguments against evolution.

Edit: profahmfaw voluntarily removed some of the other copy/pasted text (replacing it with "hey guys" and the like.

So apart from the above, the Islamic Religious Police, pesecution of gays and lesbians, opression of women, suicide bobmbers mass-murderers, public beatings, floggings executions and maimings, and oppression of free speech, what else does Islame have to offer?

Along time ago Arabia was as advanced as any civilisation, Today we still use the descendants of arabic numerals in our counting system, Al jabra Is the word from which algebra is derived. Arabia had a very good grasp of the world and it's workings, then somebody put it all down in a book and claimed it was the work of God, Arabia has never been as rich powerful or united since.

profahmfaw, do you believe everything that happened in the koran?

    Even the TALKING ANTS?

At length, when they came to a valley of ants, one of the ants said: "O ye ants, get into your habitations, lest Solomon and his hosts crush you (under foot) without knowing it."
So he smiled, amused at her speech; and he said: "O my Lord! so order me that I may be grateful for Thy favours, which Thou has bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may work the righteousness that will please Thee: And admit me, by They Grace to the ranks of Thy Righteous Servants."

A priest, in Russia, can convert to Islam and the Russian Orthodox Church will regret the move. Nothing more.

What would be the fate of an immam in Saudi Arabia who converted to Catholicism?

    this

Abu Dawud 38:4357 When the Apostle of Allah cut off the hands and feet of those who had stolen his camels and apostacised and had their eyes put out by fire, Allah reprimanded him and revealed: "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle and strive with might and main for rnischief through the land is execution or crucifixion." (38A359).. or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides or exile from the land" This was "revealed about polytheists and if any of them repent before they are arrested it does not prevent from inflicting on him the prescribed punishment which he deserves"

Muslim 623 The Prophet said: "It is not permissible to take the life of a Muslim except in one of the three cases: the married adulterer, a life for a life (if the person is Muslim), and the deserter of Islam."

Bukhari 9:89:271 A man embraced Islam and then reverted back to Judaism Mu'adh said: "I will not sit down unless you kill him as it is the verdict of Allah and His Apostle"

Bukhari 4:52:260 Ali burnt some people (Zanadiqa, atheists 9:84:57) although the Prophet had said, "Don?t punish anybody with Allah's punishment (Fire)" if a Muslim discards his religion, kill him"

Well what about Cat Stevens and Cassius clay? they also converted to islam - so what! A person's religion does not matter to us, it is what they do that counts. We accept all people in the west. America is a melting pot it contains people from all over the world, people from all religions who mostly get along together. Britain too, is very multicultural.

very true on my average week i mix with athiests, jews, hindus, muslims, sikhs, jadist(if that a follower of jadism  ) johavas witnesses catholics and protestants and they are just the ones whose religion i know, i dont live in a major city either but a small village on the edge of a medium town

The difference here is that they are individuals and mix in the wider community and are not in large religious communitys that way people know people as opposed to religions accepting religions

Never been a fan of this muslim area, black area, chinese area etc else you never get to experience what makes groups different for yourself

This is an extract from Dr. Gronier, a French MP, who embraced Islam. Revealing the reason of embracing Islam he said, I read all of the Ayat (Quranic verses), which have a relation to medical, health, and natural sciences that I studied before and have a wide knowledge of. I found that these verses are totally compatible with and give a picture of our modern sciences. Thus, I embraced Islam as it was obvious that Muhammad revealed the Absolute Truth more than a thousand years ago. Had every specialist, artist or scientist compared those Quranic verses to his own specialization, beyond the shadow of doubt he would embrace Islam, especially if he has a sound mentality and goodwill to search for the truth and not a mentally defective person with the intentions of malevolent aims.

Your quotation implies that any and all scientifically minded people who do not embrace Islam are mentally defective, is disgusting and repulsive and very very offensive to me. I shall refrain from telling you where mohammed may place the Qu'ran and then where Allah may place Mohammed.

profahmfaw, you asked: "Why did I embrace Islam?" Then you answer himself. So you do not need an answer, there is no need to ask.

You mentioned in various posts that the Koran tells of many scientific facts long before man discovered them. Do you know of any other facts that were mentioned and still not discovered by man? I am concerned that that yours may be 'after-the-fact' interpretation, like most religious text.

Exactly what I was thinking. This post was addresed to you. Captain Caveman has provided an answer based upon quotations from an English interpretation of the Qoran. Please offer your version.
A priest, in Russia, can convert to Islam and the Russian Orthodox Church will regret the move. Nothing more.

What would be the fate of an immam in Saudi Arabia who converted to Catholicism?

theres been studies on westerners who move to islam and theres an 85% drop out rate for new converts who become just as disillutioned with islam as they did with the religion they had left

ive also looked at the two links in this thread of people leving islam and both articles are from 2004, which is hardly current and if the statistics are right theres a good chance they are either back to their original religions or disillutioned enough to have given up on religion alltogether

    prof,

Perhaps the Qu'ran is to their taste, perhaps they are unhappy that their women do not obey them, perhaps their women wear bikinis and they don't like it.

For my part though, Islam is not to my taste it is 6th century, I am 21st century person.

My opinion is that moderate islam still had a sly smile at it and there were thousands in streets across islamic world cheering(were they all extremists?). There was no rush from islam to condone it and it took persuation(spelling)for them to do anything at all

My personal view is there is no such thing as moderate islam anymore and if there is its a tiny percentage

It was on a rainy afternoon in my adolescence that I was perusing an old illustrated review. Current events mingled with fiction, and descriptions of far-off countries, varied in its pages. I turned the leaves indifferently for a while when suddenly a wood-cut arrested my eyes. The picture represented flat-roofed houses from among which here and there round cupolas rose gently into the dark sky enlivened by the crescent.

The shadow of men squatting on the roof clad in fantastic robes stretched out in mysterious lines. The picture caught my imagination. It was so different from the usual European landscapes: it was an Oriental scene, somewhere in the Arabian East, where a story-teller told his gaudy tales to a burnoused audience. It was so realistic that I fancied I could hear his melodious voice as he entertained us, his Arab listeners on the roof and me, a sixteen-year-old student sitting in a soft arm-chair in Hungary.

While all the messengers appointed by Allah were charged by Him with the responsibility to disseminate the revealed guidance with which they were entrusted, their respective nations too, were called upon to share in the fulfillment of Allah’s orders. Allah reminds in the Holy Qur’an:

“And remember Allah took a covenant form the people of the Book to make it known and clear to mankind, and not to hide it…” (Qur’an 3:187)

The position of the Muslim 'Ummah' (community), in this respect is clear in the Qur’an:

“You are the best ‘Ummah’ evolved for mankind; you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong…” (Qur’an 3:110)

Thus Allah Almighty has honoured this Muslim Ummah by appointing it to share in the noble cause of its prophet by inviting people to follow the straight path. The Qur’an further stresses that:

Natural Agate Stones Carries the picture of Kaabah

What I will show you is a rare collection of natural agate stones that carries clearly the name of Allah, the Almighty, written in different fonts. Some of these stones also carry different pictures of the Noble Kaabah drawn in its different forms, real colors, and lines. This presents a great miracle from god when we know that the age of these rare stones is between 25,000,000 years and 30,000,000 years. This was mentioned by Prof. Zaghlool Elnaggar (may Allah, the Almighty, bless him) when he checked the stones and he determined its age. He also talked (on Alshareka TV Channel at Alkadr night in 2002) about these stones when he talked about scientific miracle and he mentioned the age of these stones. These stones have scientific testimony given by professional laboratories. These testimonies prove that these stones are natural 100% and everything in it is natural. These stones are deposited at a bank

Newspapers always surprise us by many views formed in different places looks like a diverse words like the sentence (Allah is the Greatest) is formed within a hive, or the words (There is No God but Allah) formed from trees in a dense forest… and honestly, we doubted that such pictures and photos are real. we often thought that there was a falsification of these pictures by using computer techniques and Photoshop… .But this time we found the word .. (Allah).. clearly and naturally in the heart of the desert (the letters formed from four palms)!!

The toaster will be on display at Lourdes next year and for a small donation you can warm your hands by the holy heat.

Careful there Pendragon your avatar clearly shows, in arabic finger spelling:

"The outbound plane to Louisiana has been cancelled due to a technical problem, we apologise for the inconvenience and will attempt to secure alternate flights for all those passengers who do not wish to walk home"

    Prof,

That picture (NASA) is called the cat's eye nebulae, it is so far away that you need a 500 million dollar telescope to see it in any real detail, it is not the sky rent apart, and there are many millions of these throughout the galaxies, it is a star that has imploded and blown off a gas cloud.

I know they are made by men, that's the reason I posted them  The trick is that half of your pictures are also made by men, and the other half is just a strange interpretation of the random forms of nature.

why we dont say that the pyramids made by nature randomly???
look at yourself your eyes its resolution 320 megapixels although our latest high technology reached only 15 megapixels in digital cameras did the nature made that randomly like the foolish Darwin said????????????????

Know what I find funny? In each case it's scientifically explainable.

Lets start with the nebula: There are billions of nebulas, stars, galaxies, etc, within our universe. There are so many nebulas with those exact charactaristics it's almost hilarious.

The mosque: Similar thing happened to a church during the WTC attacks. It was perfectly explained by a physicist. Something tells me the mosque thing would end up the same. Wow, what a miracle. A miracle of "directed chance" is more like it. Y'know, like evolution.
Another interesting point is how a few other buildings are standing. OMFG! LETS ALL PUT IMPORTANCE ON THE MOSQUE RATHER THAN THE BUILDINGS THAT ALSO STOOD!

the same arrogance carried on with the church that stood after the WTC attacks.

As for the allah bit: there are so many god damn possibilities for a plant, fish, vegetable, etc, to end up comming out the shape of something or some word. Sometimes "fuck" or "god" or "allah" or "die". Hell, those shapes just register within our alphabetical memory and it appears as a word to us. To the object, it's just a shape.
Again, it's a "miracle" of "directed chance".

As for the hand: that is a sheer case of ignorance. The word for "allah" only copies the shape of the hand during the first half, then adds a few other attributes that is NOT of the hand at all. Yeah, it spells allah allright. It also spells "W" or any number of things in different languages with similar symbols!

    Need I go on?

Dozens of other trees bend the other way, but they arent photographed and put on the internet.. Do you have any idea how many trees there are, and how many of them are fallen and bent in that shape? How big is the chance that sometime someone stumbles over one that faces Mekka? That chance is big.

Completely uncomparable. To answer your questions: No that space ship would not be randomness, because the alternative explanation (humans or so built them) is acceptable; No the pyramids aren't randomness, we can proof they are built by humans; Yes the human eye is the product of natural mutations.

But what if you would find the spaceship on Mars, would you say "ah, god made it!"? How about the pyramids, did god make those too?

I can't believe we're seriously discussing this, I mean please this is all so obvious. In the world there are dozens of earthquakes and sometimes a building is built strong enough to survive it (or survives because of simple luck); there are billions of trees and even more fishes, and the chance would be small that none of them would have some funny mark or shape. So I'm not amazed at all by your pictures. Even though I think most examples are man-made, there are some which just show the power of randomness.

I am sure that you are really confused
so why you did not answer me who make your eyes with this great technology 320 megapixels although our grearest High Tech. have only 15 megapixels digital cameras ( maybe 19 megapixels soon)??????

if you believe in what you say ..we can say that if you close your eyes and tried to write any letters randomly in your keyboard so one day you will wrire a great poem hahaaaah
in the fishe we didnt find a shape or one word we find a long statement please read the the words well....

Many times during the summer, I will lie down on my lawn with my dog and look at cloud shapes. I can make out shapes that resemble animals, space ships, and just about everything that I want to see but ten people looking at the same shape can come up with several different answers.

Those photos and descriptions you presented are meaningless random generations. I don't see what you see in many of them but since you are heavy into Islam, many of them will fit for you.

I'd need to know the wind direction average, the surrounding terrain, the landscape, water supply, etc.

what about the plants in the desert ????
Same as above. And it's not uncommon for plants to grow in insanely weird shapes. Some even in the shape of a human face. I should know, I have a tree that looks like an old man within walking distance.

why they all have the same shape????
*sigh* the plants do not have the exact same shape. They may have a generally same shape, but so do millions of other plants. The earth is so vast that it isn't surprising for the same conditions to create a similar plant elsewhere.

what about the fish ???if we found one word we can say this random but we found a long statement how you can expalin this?????????
That fish is obviously changed by human hands. If you want an alternative explanation, prove it wasn't.

about the nebula did you read the words down the photo it says that:Quraan describes the exploation with a red rose !!!!

Please try and think before writing. I said there were possibly billions of other nebulas exactly like that one. It isn't unique, and many of them are from millions or billions of years ago.

Also, this is a case of "you'll find it if you look for it".

about the church you are too liar nothing happened like this...did the church have a clash with a plane like WTC??????if a block of flats go down near my my house so you say that my house must go down too???

    Actually, it happened.
    http://www.trinityold.com/news/alert_73.shtml

    that is the church.
    http://www.wirednewyork.com/wtc/wtc_map.htm

    there is a map

    http://www.nyc-architecture.com/LM/L...NITYCHURCH.htm

more information on the church. Anyway, the church survived with almost no damage due to the shielding effects other buildings had around it. Naturally, the church-goers didn't believe a word the experienced physicist said. Psh.

Also, judging by the rest of your statements you severely underestimate the sheer EXPLOSIVE power the WTC collapse had. It nearly destroyed many buildings, busted tons of windows, bent steal beams, etc. The church is the only building that suffered not even one window break.

yes I am agree with you bettina ..you always say right things but can you explain to me why this tree have the shape of a man who faces KAAPA and no place else????

Can you expalin how Quraan described the shape of star explotion???

hahhh in our photo we have an earthquake we dont have anything which can protect the Mosque.

I'd need to know the wind direction average, the surrounding terrain, the landscape, water supply, etc.
you are wrong we didnt study something like what you said in Botany if you are right why we dont see many plants like this many times.

That fish is obviously changed by human hands. If you want an alternative explanation, prove it wasn't.
you can ask the lebanese christian man who discovered it who became muslim now.
Finally it is up to you to believe or not to believe.

Yeah, and you also have other buildings standing. There are also other reports of churches from around the world surviving earthquakes. That Mosque is special...how?

you are wrong we didnt study something like what you said in Botany if you are right why we dont see many plants like this many times.
I am wrong...why? Your reason doesn't prove I'm wrong. It just proves you weren't taught it was possible.

And no, it does not. Read what I said carefully. Then read it again. Then again. And again. Yet again! Maybe then you'll understand better.

The plant grew according to environmental variances. These variances can be rare, or VERY common. the most common means we'll see it most often. Least common, least often.

you can ask the lebanese christian man who discovered it who became muslim now.
Finally it is up to you to believe or not to believe.
So basically, your evidence is of a lebanese christian man (now muslim) who made a lot of money (probably thousands) from a fish. Yeah...lets believe him.

MECCA is THE CENTER of THE EARTH
After long debates that exhausted many scientists over many decades, it was proven in the mid-1960s that earth was completely immersed with water in a certain phase of its creation, and that there was no dry land exposed above the surface of that water. Then by the will of Allah, the bottom of this huge ocean exploded into violent volcanic eruptions that kept on continuously throwing molten lava. The lava accumulated in layers over layers causing a mountain range to form on the bottom of this huge ocean. This mountain range continued to grow and mount until its peak emerged out of the water's surface forming the first part of dry land similar to the various volcanic islands widespread in today's oceans (such as: Japan’s islands, Philippines, Indonesia, Hawaii, etc.). The volcanic activity continued, and this island grew gradually as a result of the successive volcanic eruptions that added new areas to it, causing it to become a great continent called the Mother Continent or Pangaea

Note: i said *EARTHQUAKE* not WTC collapse.

now since the image is working: that isn't the center of the earth. the "center" of the earth depends fully upon which map you are using. that map there is, actually, displaying an incorrect center. Then again, define "center".

Since the earth is circular, there is no center surface-wise. There can only be a possible center on a non-circular map.
