What is the cause of the universe?

How can a god begin to exist without being created?

I've seen this argument too many times, yet I've to find a theist give any concrete answers to the questions above.

It's rather pathetic, to believe in a superstion of an entity that one can't give evidence of it's existence.

The universe exist, so god did it. That's not an answer, that's only adding to the problem, for one you havent explained what god is, if it exists, were? were's the emperical evidence that a universe was created by a supernatural being. Hell explain what the heck is "supernatural"

They tell us god is unknowable. Yet many pundits like this keep claiming that he knows.

This is a very silly argument you have started. I assume you plan it to be an argument. Either "side" can continue on with the same unanswerable questions. Maybe there is a reason for this. Maybe the question we should be asking is: What is this reason?

A schizophrenic does not know himself. A true Shaman, Yogi, Christ, etc. is more in tune with himself and the world than you could possibly imagine. Although, it is worth trying.

The universe was not created, it has always existed. No big bang ever happened, the universe just is.

Because if you entertained to read the links, you would have known that the universe never had a point of origin, it has always been. In order to justify the universe was created a big bang phenomenon would have been observed. However the EVIDENCE as it is being interpreted, shows that no BB ever happened. Thus no creation ever took place. :wink:

Anyways, I never said that the "Big Bang" ever happened. If it did, what created it. You see, I could care less about the Big Bang. Your idea about the universe being around forever is interesting. Does this hint to the idea that maybe time is not as it seems. :?

I'm not sure, but I'd sooner accept that the universe (which we all damn well know DOES exist) "just is" over a God who may or may not exist. Especially when He has the power to make it known that He does, but chooses not to.
