I am not sure I understand the question. Since religions are based on a belief in God there would appear to be a rather close connection.
Did you mean "Do you think, if there is a God, that he is anything like the God described by any of our religions?"
religion is a system of belief, a god is in most cases at the head of this.
None.
I take 'religion' here to refer to the organized and social practices, rather than a more personal belief.
Call me crazy, but I am starting to see a connection between them. I mean, look at the signs in front of religious churches, they are often about God, WTF? Why is that? And the people I know with religion are always talking about God. Maybe it's just a coincidence...

You will recall that in another thread I refer to religion being related to a belief in supernatural beings or entities. The entities was added to cover Bhuddism, since this arguably can describe the result of attaining Nirvana.
No, please, no more extended definitions of any religious terms; please, don't.

Is obfuscation through the persistent agglomeration of lexical terminology as it pertains to belief against your religion then?![]()
Not exactly; although I would never deny the effect Strunk and White have had on my ethical as well as intellectual development, I can not claim to worship them.
The only things against my religion are telling people what to believe or how to behave, and trying to explain the workings of the universe.
Ah! Strunk and White. I am never without them, lest I run afoul(er) of the usage police.Originally Posted by j
Yes, there is a definite but indirect connection. Religion is a reflection of both human nature and God's continuing interference. I believe that God's work of creation is analogous to a farmer raising crops, a shepherd breeding sheep, and a teachers efforts in the classroom. The plants, animals and students are a product of both their own choices and efforts as well as the work of the farmer, shepherd and teacher. So I believe that human nature is the result of a long history of God's cultivation of life in universe. We are religious and philosophical beings because that is what God was looking for in us. His influence is indirect and most often misunderstood, so religion both is and is not a thing of his creation.Originally Posted by evil_princess
While I am not pleased at being liken to a carrot, or, worse, a sheep, I think that M&M came up with a pretty good answer.
I don't agree, but I like it.
Not directly, if you are religious you believe in something abstract, you can't believe in something which already is a fact.Originally Posted by evil_princess
The people who lived in the country, which is called America now, for example the Apache, the Arapahoe(maybe mistaken, just comes into my mind), the souix etc. had and still have their own religion.(I think)
Can anybody by the way tell anything about their religion? (just know "movie sayings" and "movie descriptions"), never got a book yet.(about their religion)
Because they didn't live in "AMERICA" "for about ten years" ,before the men whith lighter skin colour came, there you know.
And I though their religion didn't have a God, a "Person" with almighty powers.
