    Nope, haven't read it. I'm not particularly sympathetic to the Libertarian point of view, which prejudices me against Rand. Probably all the more reason I should read it.

    Read it in college. The Fountainhead is tauter and less preachy, while containing most of Rand's ideas in any case. Besides, it was made into a famous film so you can probably rent the DVD and get your Rand in!

    Atlas Shrugged as the above sentence will I hope hint, is very long, lacking in decent characterisation and prose style, overly preachy and argumentative and with a plot that, in effect, 'loses the plot' by the end. Some of the arguments, as dramatised by Rand in the novel, can however seem very compelling and it can in parts be an exciting read.
