magnetic field - like in spell binders??

gravity - anti gravity - like in many sci-fi including ultravialot??

If we change the graviton to some other energy form, then there you have it.

I believe you could use a magnetic field to levitate, not sure about using it to fly, since I can't see how that would create life except via a magnetic interaction, which would be levitation.

Well, the Earth has a weak magnetic field of its own. I don't know how strong an opposed magnetic field you'd need in order to lift something, but technically it stands to reason that it would be possible.

Maybe the Earth's field is so weak that no amount of magnetism pushing against it would lift you.

The above pic is a design of a new propulsion system.

It is very simple. Some of you guys may have the access to build and test it.

The principle is space is a magnetic field. If we rotate a fan that is made by superconducting material in a vacuum chamber and keep it below critical temperature, we should have a thrust of magnetic wind.

Maybe that's how UFO's fly around. Because magnetic wind moves no mass, the new motor should be high efficiency.

Magnetic fields? Possibly, though you would need a very very powerful supercooled superconductor, and it would only work on the planet. And, as has been said, the planet's magnetic field might be too weak for it to work.

'Gravity?' It depends on how you want to use it. If you want to make some sort of anti-gravity wave or material then I will have to say No -- I have gone into great lengths on the "gravity-we know what it is-but do we know why it is?" post in the astronomy section already on this one, which I won't delve into here so as not to hijack your post. If you want you can check it out to see why I say no to using 'gravity' ... but, one could possibly devise some way to curve space artificially in ways that would benefit a spaceship.

However, we already utilize the effect of 'gravity' caused by curved space for our space missions such as sling-shotting, but we are simply utilizing the naturally-occurring curved space AKA 'gravity' that is caused by objects in our own solar system.

Well... if you apply Einsteins E=mc2, is is possible to create mass from energy, so theoretically, if you create an enormous amount of mass in front of your vessel, gravity will work, right?

If there in any way was possible to create this big amount of mass in the direction you want to go in a split of a second, it would work right? :-D

My mind is just drifting here, but it sounds logically correct :P

Magnetic wind from a cooling fan? you crack me up...how is this magnetic field created being anything to do with the wind?

Yes,Magnetic flying machine is possible, but not at all, untill 50-100 years. As of today,We don't have the understanding required to make such flying machines.Since earth has its own magnetic field,we can create repulsive magnetic field to fly over. But as of now,we have not understood magnetism and gravity related theories at 100 percent .Gravity and magnetism is a study of Quantum mechanics which involves string theories, gravity field theories which we have not yet proved and understood properly.Lot of things have to be discovered before we can make such such Machines.

Aman, Oh please...just stick to your own silly thread...

In theory it might be possible to use the magnetic field of the earth to fly on gossamer wings. Especially if you weigh a few nanograms.

Since there is no such thing as anti gravity, it can not be used to fly in any way, shape or form.

PS I'm sorry I replied to a necro thread, but had to reply to the not even pseudoscience in the previous post.

The technology will take lot of time to grow up.We dont presently have the technology to do it.
Anyway. My comment was an important comment ,I think, that's why I commented here.I am not going to discuss on this thread in detail as of now, because I don't have time now.
However I think .it should be possible in future. And not at all now!

Yes yes, you keep saying you don't have the time, yet you keep postong your pseudo nonscience all over the place.

We have been understanding magnetism quite well since Maxwell.

Actually we do. It just isn't practical or economical, nor would such a vessel be very safe either.
