# Thread: the challenge of the flat earth

1. There is a British named Howard George Stirrup, resident in Benidorm, which has launched a challenge on Facebook and Youtube: says that it will give 10,000 euros who give a photograph in which to appreciate the land circumference and proves that the Earth is not flat. Fernando Martínez Gómez-Tejedor, terraplanista of Spanish origin, has joined the amount of 990,000 euros Howard George Stirrup's \$ 10,000 reward to the person who manages to get a REAL picture showing that the Earth is round and not flat . The offer will be in effect and on March 30 will be held a Conference on the promenade of the Spanish in Madrid at 17:00 hrs. The sum total of both rewards would give the amount of 1,000,000 euros. To contact Fernando Martínez Gómez-Tejedor can do so through Whatsapp: + 34603261072

Too many weasel words to believe that the monies would ever be paid. Every spacefaring nation has countless images, many of which have been widely distributed. Stirrup and Gomez-Tejedor would simply say "these are not REAL pictures" and keep the merry game going on.

Silly. Not going to play.

Agreed. They would say "fake! fake! obviously photoshopped!" - and then a month later, claim "we had a contest where you could win A MILLION EUROS for proof of a round planet - and not ONE person could do it!" This is for PR value, nothing more.

10. A friend of mine came up with a novel proof. Take any picture of the moon taken from the Northern Hemisphere. Compare it to a picture taken from the Southern Hemisphere.

The moon's upside down in the Southern Hemisphere.

Hardly "proof".
Stick a poster on your room ceiling and photograph it while standing against one wall. Then walk across the room to the opposite wall and take another.
Hey. it's upside down...
