Thread: Humans having the ability to manipulate metallic objects.

I think i may have a possible, and i say 'POSSIBLE' breakthrough allowing humans or a human to manipulate metallic objects without an external magnet or electromagnet. Please email me if you or someone you know is interested in developing this idea with me and hopefully making it work.

Im talking about abilities like magneto's.

An extremely powerful diamagnetic solid setting liquid injected into the skeleton to repel a metallic substance when in magnetic field proximity of that object.

So, I would never be able to trust my compass or my watch again.
That would suck.

There would be a problem with everyday metal objects, but it could save lives, like stopping a bullet in mid air before it hits the body.

But not a silver bullet!

Well it would stop any metal with a weak magnetic field, but i doubt many people are gonna splash out the cash to go chasing wolfmen.

Nor lead either. I don't believe lead is magnetic.

I think making your skeleton strongly magnetic would be an insanely bad idea, and that it would not give you abilities like Magneto.

No, a diamagnetic skeleton would repel any magnet or anything with a weak magnetic field. Thats the point of it, to repel not attract.

Hmm, if I had Magneto-like powers I wonder if I could attract Guinness by the pint toward me?
Now THAT would be a super power worth having.
(Then again, the concomitant health problems from having bones full of metal - as opposed to bone marrow - might offset that. And then there's the problem that I'd only be able to use elevators on my own before reaching the weight limit...)

Yes, a lot of metallic objects would move away from you but you want to pick something up you just have to grab it quickly.

If this magnetic power is supposed to repel something as fast as bullet then how fast would you have to move to grab something?

Thus, it would repel your own blood. But since the injected substance would replace the bone-marrow (which produces blood), that probably won't be an issue.

I guess you're unaware that all known diamagnetic materials have almost vanishingly small strength (at any temperature consistent with human life). Until a hitherto unknown diamagnetic material, with large susceptibility and biocompatibility, is discovered, your proposal is functionally indistinguishable from "Assume magic exists. Then..."

So, it's powerful enough to repel a bullet moving at 3000 feet/sec, but if I want to pick up my watch I just need to "grab it quickly". Right.

Any chance you could explain how you inject something into the skeleton without, well, killing the person?
