In this thread I would like to discuss what you believe may be the correct hypothesis for UFOs.
At the moment I believe sightings of UFOs can be explained by psychology, hallucination and perhaps electromagnetism.

At the moment I believe sightings of UFOs can be explained by psychology, hallucination and perhaps electromagnetism.
Misperceptions by people who don't look at the sky enough, understand the physics or the eye-brain visual system, or have the knowledge or patience to understand what the "think" they saw.
There exist UFOs that is truely unknown (truely unidentifiable). 'Condon Report' (one of the truely known scientific investigation of UFOs) has mentioned several UFO cases which has 'high-probability-of-UFO' ('UFO' as in 'unidentified') which is not explainable by the informations available during the investigation (1968). So I recommend we keep a look-out for explaination to UFOs and not just easily dismiss witnesses as having illusion.
You might discover new science: like how ice crystal reflect ground light, gas discharge from swamp area, and more UNKNOWNS that one would otherwise dismiss if they thought the witness were delusional.
UFOs are real in the way LBBs are: When a birdwatcher can't identify a bird, it's noted down as a Little Brown Bird sighting. That is actually the professional thing to do. Some people might mistake this to mean LBBs are an elusive species obscured by a conspiracy of birdwatchers.
The vast majority of sightings can be explained by mundane phenomena misinterpreted by humans. (Humans have an unwarranted confidence in their ability to observe objectively and remember accurately.)
There may be some natural, but currently unknown phenomena that account for a small proportion of the sightings. (Or there may not.)
I should be astounded if any of them turned out to be real.
The most fascinating aspect of UFOs is the number of people who believe they are alien craft and that there is a government conspiracy. Those are the real UFOs: Uninformed Foolish Opinions. ( © 2012 E. Tritton)
Flying Objects that have not (yet) been Identified. I doubt there is a single hypothesis, cause or explanation that can be applied to all of them.
Actually, "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" might be a better term as we don't know if they are objects (they haven't been identified, remember) and we don't know if they are flying.
So Unidentified Visual Phenomena might be a better term![]()
I have never seen a UFO, or an alien for that matter, but there is something inside me, that wants these things to be true.
PS. UVP just does not have the same ring to it. It sounds a bit like double glazing, UPVC.
Which one would you choose out of these?

None of the above...mostly people who don't watch the sky enough to know what they are looking at.
