    I am told by many real and fake scientists that one can accept the theory of evolution and still be a theist and/or religious. Does this mean that one can accept ID and still be an atheist and/or non-religious?

    If you assume that the designer is an alien then you could. That would be incredibly stupid though.

    i'm an atheist. as do most atheists i know, i live by the credo give me proof and i'll believe it
    i'll believe the moon is made of green cheese without a problem, if clear incontrovertible proof is provided

    but why should i even attempt to find proof for ID, when the theory of evolution fits perfectly well? you know the saying: if you hear hoof-beats think horses, not zebras...

    ID, I assume intelligent design;

    First, I'm not a Christan, but I don't know why not. The old Testament for most religious folks (those believing in a creator) has not been used, for years. Even the hard core, no longer believe in the seven day creation, the 6000 yo earth, Adam and Eve, multiple wifes, single religion dominance or hundreds of things written into the OT or preached as religion for centuries. Think about it, there is no requirement for taking biology, physics or science courses in High School, College or advanced Schooling requiring the person be atheist. You may lose your Job with NASA, if you don't believe man causes global warming or even get one if you don't accept the Big Bang Theory, but you'll be first in line if your a Christan...

    Yes it would be incredibly stupid to think that God (the supposed Absolute and Almighty) would create the wondrous process of evolution that generates myriads of new life forms each generation for billions of years.

    Why would God do that ?

    Why certainly, atheism is no protection against stupidity and gullibility. Plenty of atheists going around believing crazy stupid stuff, plenty.
