Subliminal campaign ads? New research shows that subliminal messages can change political views and behavior.

It seems with every election campaign there comes a new argument or two over who is inserting subliminal messages in their TV ads. During the current primary campaigns Mike Huckabee was questioned about a bookshelf in the background that could be interpreted as a Christian cross, and Mitt Romney was accused of intentionally highlighting the letters "R-A-T" in the word "immigration" in an ad attacking Jon McCain's immigration policy. In fact, the "rats" accusation is an old one – George W. Bush was accused of featuring it in an ad threatening that Al Gore's healthcare policies would lead to "bureaucRATS" making medical decisions.

    OK,

At first the guy mentions putting sublime messages into a film and showing for "one three thousandth" of a second. Wrong! film speeds 50 years ago were 24 frames per second. Even today with larg cinemas the frame rate is (as far as I know) still 24FPS. A atandard roll of film used to be 17 minutes long, at the speed suggested a standard roll of film would play in about 8 seconds (17*60*24/3000)

Later he says that he cannot display 1/60th of a second, why not? that IS the field rate (as opposed to the more meaningless framerate bandied about) of the NTSC standard, it is twice the 29.97 fully interlaced frames per second, US TV rate.

As a retired Engineer I think if that is the accuracy of the technical side of this video, what is the accuracy of the imformation side?

This inevitably leads me to dismiss it as trash, but amusing trash....

I like to evaluate the subliminal psychology of language, the bible and the things in general.

So in the current election motives, what I see in the Democratic candidates is that this is a battle between chauvinism that the bible teaches and Obamas Islamic religious indoctrination and his racial nature promoted by Oprah.

So the proof of its chauvinist nature is when the Johns (Kerrey and Edwards) plus Edward Kennedy supporting Obams is an example of chauvinism.

Then the promotion of 'change' emphacised by Obama is an example of racism. Apparently to change the color of the Whitehouse occupants from white to black.

Well all I have to say here is that a change of gender is a greater change than color since a chauvinist by any color is still a chauvinist.

I think the Whitehouse needs a woman to manage this country rather than another chauvinist.
Women are born managers since they do the managing of the families and households.

Cosmo; Wish you had offered a new thread on you topic, maybe including political correctness to topic. Otherwise, what you infer, IMO is generally correct...

I do think, Hillary will eventually win the Democrat Nomination, as issues and personal histories take center stage. What the White House needs however is the most qualified, for the time and from who offered. Of the Democrat's offered she fits that mode, not because she is a woman or has an ability to run a household.

God help America is Hillary becomes president. Whenever I hear her speak (especially when she appeals to her gender as a reason to elect her), I feel physically nauseaous.

And a lot of women (and some men) are actually buying her BS. They merely want to elect her for the novelty of getting to vote in the first woman president.

Oh well, what can you expect from a population that was stupid enough to vote in Bush... twice.

I decided to reply to this post again to give reasons for why I support Hillary.

While Bill Clinton was president, they supported 'abortion and volentary euthanasia' that I agree with as a personal decision.

Then shortly after Bill Clinton became president, she openly spoke that we needed a Universal Healthcare Plan.
The republicans laughed at her because they controlled both houses.

So she just abandoned the idea and kept quiet about it.
But I knew she still supported her view point that I agree with.

On the other hand, what do we know about Obama?
Oprah openly supported him because he was a black candidate and threw her financial support behind him. So Oprah brought in the racial issue early in the campaign.

Another reason I oppose Obama is his senate partner Durbin is a drug pusher (presription) because he wanted to classify 'vitamins and minerals' as drugs to be allowed to have a doctor only to prescribe these NATURAL substances.
    Wow! Can you believe that?

So I figured Obama would be influenced by him as the senior senator from Illinois.

I'm sure it happens, but it probably doesn't happen too often. They already have people in their clutches with their party system, keep everyone bickering, choosing "parties" so that they stick to voting for the party no matter what because that is how their parents voted.

    I like the music too.

Oh and yes, I am aware that the sign they use near the end is the New York football team sign.

Oh and one more thing, I'll post your comment for you

SN; Statistically, 60% of voters in National Elections, vote their parties candidate which is now close to 50-50 to each major party. Family tradition certainly plays a role, but then so does you spouse, friend and work influence. 20% from each party tend to vote on a specific issue, then something that pertains to them self. Only about 10 % or 20 of the total are informed voting for a candidate that would or do vote for the package, possibly even the party platform for that election. This is a terrible prognosis...

Cosmo; I agree with you, 'Right to Die' should be legal, but with some form of control. I think it happens anyway and intend on using the enclosed garage and six pack if my mind stays clear...

On the Health Care Issue and this hitting the news lately. Of the 40-50 Million 'Baby Boomer's' 10 Million, its said, will contract mental dementia to some degree to a lengthy incapacity, medical cost including housing which alone could break any foreseeable GDP figure. Add to this the desire of MOST Americans, to stay alive as long as possible, or even that most have no idea whats going on around them after certain ages. If government is involved, or the alert people making decisions for those that are not, for any ailment, your asking for a monstrous problem....
