The Boss of the Gangsters Of Politics (GOP) has finally been caught by the long arm of the law.

He was arraigned in a N.Y. court today on 34 felony charges. (34 is quite a few!) Most of those who have followed the story know what this is all about.

Justice will only be served if Trump is convicted on some or all of these charges because this is one of those times, based on all that is known, where he is guilty until proven innocent.

And there are many other investigations on-going, and those will likely make these charges rather minor by comparison.

It is ,of course important that the law runs its course but it is debatable whether the political wellbeing of the States is better served by having a Republican candidate other than Trump.

Whilst conventional wisdom seems to be that Trump cannot win the presidency, that is not certain and otoh an alternative candidate might actually be even worse(for different reasons ) than him -if they were to actually win the presidency.

The Republicans are highly fractured, with many getting out of Trump mania.

But he still has 30%+ hard core support and will run as a third party candidate if he does not win the nomination.

It is difficult to see how the GOP can win the White House in 2024. Too much infighting to rally around a viable candidate

Yes ,very hard at the best of times and the GOP has fallen out of its rocker.

God knows what it actually represents as an ideology.

Maybe fractured times produce fractured politics and it was just the right wing's turn to pull it's own head off.

It is even worse for them when one considers that independent voters decide these elections, and they are very anti-Trump.

And soon will be more anti-GOP as those fools continue to attack the foundations of U.S. democracy, like calls to de-fund the FBI, attacking judges on social media, etc.

Just don't see a path anywhere for them, which is good for everyone in the U.S., and around the world.
