Do you think people in Communist North Korea ask themselves sometimes 'I am happy I live in this way and have so little' there is nothing wrong in my life?

If you had been brought up in this way by your family and government you would not have a feeling of missing out because you never had it in the first place to have an experience of the loss. you never miss what you did not have.

Is the same thing applicable in the West - do we accept what we are told to easily by our governments and go to war far to readily.

Are you actually comparing the quality of life in North Korea to the West?

nope, I'm more interested in whether if any government told you that life was meant to be lived this way and you did not have any other recourse or input from television or the WWW you would just accept it as the norm.

Part of the political classes way of control of the masses is to manipulate opinions and experience to suit themselves - agree or disagree?

In many instances those who go against the system are imprisoned for a period of time to indoctrinate them back into society.

I find it difficult to believe in our educated society with the widespread access to information anything of this kind could occur.

really? we have just had a mammoth revelation in the UK about our leaders manipulating their expenses in some cases in the thousands of pounds. e the tax payers were subsidising our leaders to buy bigger houses.

Watergate or Trinity ringing any bells. You don't have to go to Russia to pick up examples of criminality and propaganda its universal.

Mostly disagree, at least in the US.

The media doesn't so much manipulate or change opinions but offer news already titled in the direction their viewership prefers.
