Hey, I've been thinking about China's political system.

In 1949 or 1954, Mao Zedong and his Communist Party took the power in China, and transforming China into a communist state. But today China is a dictatorship.

If communism is based on joint ownership, then you could say that China is not communist today because China's government owns all businesses, and not China's people as it should do if China were communist.
As China's President / Dictator controls all companies in China so we should not call China a communist state today.

    or what do you think?

China isn't a dictatorship, it's an autocratic single party state. The Party Secretary wields a lot of power, but he's not in absolute control. It's better to think of it as a country run by a small group of elites. There's also a limited degree of debate and democracy permitted at certain levels of government.

" China's government owns all businesses"
Are you sure? Im under the impression that many non strategic businesses are not state owned but i dont know, maybe the equivalent of hot dog stands are state owned of have a majority control. Imo having some measure of state control in one form or another in strategic centers of activity is, strategic.

Most of the state business have been sold off, they were gradually phased out because the Chinese Government couldn't afford all those pensions and health care they were providing through the State Owned Enterprises.

Now most Chinese people are screwed out of any possible retirement and can't get proper medical care, it's a lot like the US in that respect.
