hello, i've run into a problem of a conservative who (unlike a true conservative) doesn't believe in free speach and censors liberals if they're too good at supporting their views. so, i invite everyone on here, conservatives, liberals, and moderates to go to his page and use the discussion board i goaded him into adding to show what people really believe.

the site of his page is: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=h#!/conservativegroup?ref=ts

    You're a troll.

It's normal for any political web site to censor their members. Othewise, they would be overrun by trolls.

Go to DemocraticUnderground and post a conservative view, then see how quick you get tombstoned.

i think i've demonstrated numerous times on this forum that i'm no troll. and i don't plan on trolling as that implies posting for an emotional response and leaving. whereas i'm posting in the hope that somebody can logically support their beliefs.

and just because it's normal for both left and right wing political pages to censor comments doesn't mean it's right. and for conservatives who go around proclaiming the value of the consitution it's downright hypocritical to deny people their first ammendment rights

Nobody is denying anybody any rights. The owner of the web site has every right to censor comments on his web site, as you have a right to make your own web site.

The first amendment to the Constitution says "Congress shall make no law.."

If you go trolling on a conservative web site... you are a troll.

Saul, based upon reading of many posts, I'm fairly sure I'm well towards the opposite end of the spectrum from Harold. i.e I am a tree hugging, died in the wool, environmentally friendly, left leaning liberal with strong socialist tendencies. However I read your opening post with considerable unease. While the views of this conservative may be abhorrent to us your plan does smack of deliberate trolling of his website.

Please note that Harold is not, I think, accusing you of trolling here. He is saying that your plan of 'attack' on the conservatives site constitutes trolling. I am not sure I would go that far, but I certainly found your suggestion made me uncomfortable. I immediately asked 'how would I feel if this was a post from a conservative member urging me to go sitr things up on a liberal member's site?' I think you could benefit from asking yourself the same question.

Edited to correct a couple of typos.

Ophiolite is correct. Also, when I use the term "troll" I don't necessarily consider that a pejorative term. There are various levels of trolling, and I have even indulged it myself. It is my understanding of net etiquette, that what Saul wants to do is a form of trolling.

I have seen political forums that try to remain neutral, sometimes unmoderated. I've never seen that work for very long. Chaos ensues. I think that would happen here, too, if the political forum would become very active.

I have no interest in commenting on that facebook page, but the amount of Islamaphobic and some outright bigoted comments on there say a lot about the kind of people who frequent the group.

perhaps it constitutes a form of trolling if i were attempting merely to tick off conservatives, but i invited not only liberals to comment, but conservatives as well. i'm attempting to get the people that frequent the page out of their shells of ignorance. if that is considered trolling then i guess i know what my first account picture on TSF will be:

    physics: accurate, objective, boring
chemistry: accurate if physics is accurate, slightly subjective, you can blow stuff up
biology: accurate if chemistry is accurate, somewhat subjective, fascinating
religion: accurate if people are always right, highly subjective, bewildering
