    I am currently designing a pneumatic cylinder made from a polyester/pvc fabric (type II), has to be 5 metres high and diameter 1-3 metres. It will be inflated by a strong pump. It is supported by cables and has to withstand a wind loading. The stress that the fabric can take is limited. (35 Kn/m)

    What is the best method to calculate stress due to bending from the wind when the material has a thickness of less than 1 mm, and cannot be really taken into consideration.

    Ive tried the standard method of stress=My/I but the results did not look reasonable. ( for 2 metres Diameter (150(!) Kn/m)

    Anyone can help plz?
