Hello I am new to the forum my name is Sam. I think I will really enjoy this forum
.
Well I was just thinking the other day and the idea of suspended animation and using it like a time machine popped into my head ala Futurama not really a new idea. So I started reading up about it and how the problem with suspending large animals is that its hard to freeze them quick enough, or ice crystals form in their blood. But I remembered hearing about magnetic trapping one day when reading about human attemps to reach absolute zero.
Well my question is this, where does the thermal energy go in a magnetic trap? has it changed to potential energy pushing against the magnetic field? and if so does that mean as soon as you drop the field the atoms would spring back to their original teperature? Could this not instantly put a large organism in suspended animation if done on a large scale?
I may be missing some of the picture, I do not know anything really about how magnetic trapping works other than a simple explanation. Perhaps aligning all the atoms with the magnetic field would affect complex molecules ? Its been bothering me to not have anyone who knows more about this stuff than myself to talk to so I looked up this place.
Thanks
Sam
