how are predictions approached in the quantum world versus the macroscopic world?
Well in the quantum world there is only the possibility to make statistical predictions for the behaviour of particles. You can not say: "Electron e is right now positioned at the coordinates x1, y1, z1 around this specific atom." You only can assign a probability for the electron to be in a certain area around the atom.
And more important: the measurement of the system influences the system as a whole.
