I'm just full of questions today...

If the density of a sample of nuclear matter was increased to the point where it became quark matter, could it become strange matter (which, keep in mind, is a type of quark matter) if it contained no strange quarks to begin with? Something I read caused me to believe this may be true, but it doesn't seem to make sense, so I was hoping someone could help me out. Thanks.
