This is my how-to I posted on instructables, and thought I would share it with you guys. If you follow the link at the bottom, it links to my instructable page where I teach you how to build one similar.

There's also a video on the how-to page of me shooting numerous pieces of furniture.

This beast is capable of shooting a golfball over 500yards.
Just check it out here for step-by-step instructions how how to make it:
Golf Ball Gun!!! How To Make One That Can Shoot 400+ yards! - Instructables

My physics teacher had a potato gun for demonstrations of projectiles.

I know of someone who constructed an air-pressure dart gun that could shoot nail-tipped darts the length of 3 football fields.

yeah im not surprised, this could shoot over 5 if I had a decent barrel, this one is only 80cm, a 1.8m barrel could do it.

I have always said that chrushing things that break in to 1000 of tiny pices is one of the best things in life. and with this golf gun there can be done a lot of damage. Thank you I have finally found the meaning of life.

Very nice. Could it be made into a repeater, maybe even an automatic?

Yes, possibly. Go to www.spudfiles.com and on the homepage there is a fully automatic golf ball gun, not mine but check it out.

This could be done by interfacing the trigger switch, an electronically controlled valve, and a simple ignition circuit to a microcontroller. Program it so that the combustion happens as intermittent bursts, (similar to an Otto cycle in a piston engine), and build a mechanism for loading the next projectile into the chamber after each 'burst'.

In standard guns this loading mechanism usually takes advantage of the recoil of the projectile.

I might try and attach something similar to a remote control car, and wire up a camera to it. Me and a friend have been meaning to build such a creature for quite a while, but earlier designs involved the hacking of a 'henry hoover'!

If the laws of physics were in the control of a mind, if that mind became pissed off, even the most simple small minded chain reaction of the system could potentially make everything blow up (like you gu thing).

    Mmmmmm.

Maybe that's why scientists either have a TRUST in God, like the God given U S of A, or they decide to be ATHEISTS.

Quoting as a form of self-analysis doesn't really cut it (you know, as a psychiatrist).

    But then again<<<<<<<<<<

These are the options, right? According to you?

What about those of us who didn't "decide" to be born in the "god-given US of A". We are atheists, to a man, right?

Actually I am, but that's neither here nor there.

You don't read the newspapers, do you.

You know, what is said, what is writte, for who, how one is able to use language as a tool to moment to moment believe in something they haven't actually direcxtly been a part of?

Haha this is a pneumatic, it's all air pressure man, no combustion here.

Ahh I see. I didn't actually look at the project that was posted, and someones mention of combustion set me off.

In this case, a similar system could be used to what I described, but scrap the ignition circuit, and have the valve control the flow (pulses) of compressed air (or whatever), rather than combustants (BTW: that isn't a word?? lol wtf? :P).

In fact you need not even bother with a microcontroller at all, a simple 555 circuit could be used as a clock for the valve, with the trigger connected to its power supply. Some amplification/attenuation may also be required to match the power requirements of the valve (?).
