    Hello.

Would it in theory be possible for a singularity within a universe to consume and/or negate the universe it existed in? What would result from this?

Would it in theory be possible for a singularity to retune a universe? This meaning (from my understanding) the laws that govern that specific universe become modified/changed.

Would a singularity of these magnitudes be able to create another instance of a universe or more so?

Oh, that set off another question that is a tad off the subject.

Is it possible to retune a universe? If it is not from a singularity what in theory would have this ability?

    Thanks.

Technically a singularity is not in the universe - it is a "hole" that you cannot fill up.

As is often the case with technical subjects we are presented with an unfortunate choice: an explanation that is accurate but incomprehensible, or comprehensible but wrong.

From my limited knowledge, all singularities observed in our universe are surrounded by an event horizon, a boundry in spacetime beyond which events cannot effect an observer.

A naked singularity is one which doesn't have an event horizon.

Then again we may someday be able to create a universe:

    Not unlike my wife's mouth

Oh crap - i hope she never reads this. :?
If she does please read my thread in the "biology" section under "Is castration reversible?"
The hand of time rested on the half-hour mark, and all along that old front line of the English there came a whistling and a crying. The men of the first wave climbed up the parapets, in tumult, darkness, and the presence of death, and having done with all pleasant things, advanced across No Man's Land to begin the Battle of the Somme. - Poet John Masefield.
