For metal Ev>Ec, it's overlapping of energy band, if i understand well it's means that even at 0 K the metal has electron free to travel inside it.

It's the metal bound. Because of thermal agitation some electrons will reach an higher level of energy. Maybe some electron with E<EC will reach the conduction band leaving a hole inside the valence band, my question is why does this hole do not participate to current flow ?
Does electron with E<EC could not pass via tunel effect to its neighbourg and create an hole current or there is something i do not understand ?

    Thank you
