Why is Young's Modulus constant for a given material?

Because the physical laws of our universe are constant for classical mechanics.

That is to say, a material of constant consistancy in given conditions (ie temperature, shape mass etc ) will always behave in the same way to a given stimulus.

If that was a homework question - you are lucky, I failed to trash it before I answered - so I'll let the reply stand.

It's very interesting, is Young's Modulus.

    And it isn't always constant!
