    Hi All, my first post.

I have a question that I can't seem to find the answer to regarding the double slit experiment.

The question that I have is, when the electron "wave" impacts the the target screen, do the waves all impact the screen at the same time?

If they do, then the random nature of their collapse makes sense to me: since the whole wave impacts at the same time, the collapsed wave has to be random.

If they don't, then wouldn't the point collapse at the same spot every time? The reason I ask this is because when I see artist renderings of the waves, like here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double-slit_experiment

...it looks as though the waves are bulging towards the front, and that the front-most part would always impact the screen first.

I know quantum mechanics are hard to describe, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
