I am interested in the case of 2 rotating bodies with equally large mass, also having different rotation direction possibilities.(So not the case of an apple 'falling' onto earth)

I understand that unlike electromagnetic forces, these bodies should only attract gravitationally, no repelling behaviour.

But do they have to overcome resistence when getting very close in the course of gravitationally attracting one another, in certain cases ?

What do you have in mind by resistance? If they get close, they will bump into each other, otherwise (in a vacuum) there is nothing to slow them down.

No, there is no resistance involved in this scenario.
