Rolling motion has both kinetic and angular momentum, rotation has only angular momentum.

In angular motion the origin remains fiixed, as in the spindle of a fan.
In rolling motion the spindle [or axle] is moving past you.

    OK?

one book writes---rolling happens when point of contact has the same velocity as the surface;how is this ?
question is in relation to rolling body on ground

THink of a car tyre, at any speed the point of contact with the road is stationary, otherwise wheel-spin.
