I'd like to know what people think about string theory. Mainly because one of my favorite theorists (Dr. Michio Kaku) has been talking about string theory for quite some time. String Theory is that particles are made from like a rubber band. It can be closed or open (like a rubber band cut in half). Take those rubber bands and vibrate them. From that you can get different particles. There are many "frequencies" you can get. I've also herd that it is also called the M-theory. But string theory is hoping to unify the standard model and relativity. It also included gravity. String theory is also said to have more elegant math than the standard model. So what do you think?

String is complex, elegant and hypothetical.

Understanding it's basic idea is easy. Some struggle to see that it could work.

I think it's an interesting concept, beautiful maths, but it remains to be seen whether it has any real physical content. It is fascinating to note though that it yields General Relativity without much effort - maybe there is something to it after all.
