How can the world run out of energy if it cannot be destroyed?

    It can't!

What made you think it could?

I think what you are referring to, is that we are running out of the most convenient form of "extracting" energy - fossil fuels.

It can run out of useful energy, energy that can be used for work. It depends entirely upon either the internal energy from radioactive decay and residual thermal energy from collapse, and from the input from the sun. Neither have infinite lifespans.
