Hey people (First time on this website because i showed my Science professor this article after i came across it).
So i thought i would ask you guys to get more of a collective view!!!
STEPHEN HAWKING: How to build a time machine | Mail Online
186,000 miles per second is the cosmic speed limit!
So anyway, Reading through i seen conflicting Statements
#1- Steven: "For every 16-minute orbit, they'd only experience eight minutes of time."
My thoughts: (incase you didnt read it) he was talking about about a "black whole and orbiting its facial perimeter in a space ship" because we all know time is slower in space then on earth!
So breaking that down its obvious that its 1/2 the time, (So 1year will equal 6 months) at 99.99% of light speed
#2- Steven: "At this speed, a single day on board is a whole year of Earth time. Our ship would be truly flying into the future."
My thoughts: (If you didnt read) he was talking about building a spaceship that was capable of 99.99% of light speed rather then using a black whole.
But in #1 he said we were traveling double the speed the time? And #2 we would have to travel 365times fast to achieve that speed?
Highlight 1 fact
Steven: "The fastest manned vehicle in history was Apollo 10. It reached 25,000mph. But to travel in time we'll have to go more than 2,000 times faster." = 50,000,000 MPS
I idol Steven but we Really couldn't seem to come to a conclusion of what he ment by these statements
HELP!!!
