    1. When a girl is sitting on a chair, the earth exerts a downward force on the girl and the chair exerts an upward force on the girl.

    (a) These two forces DO NOT belong to the same action and reaction pair. Explain.

    (b) State the two action and reaction pairs in the situation of sitting on the chair.

    2. A skydiver jumps from a plane which is 6000M above the ground. He does not open the parachute for some time. Two forces A and B act on the skydiver when he is falling.

    (a) Force A causes the skydiver to fall. Name force A and explain what does this force depend on.

    (b) Force B opposes the motion of the skydiver. Name force B and explain what does this force depend on.

    Thank you.

    Q1
a.These forces do not belong to the same action reaction pair because the girl exerts a downward force on the chair and thus the chair exerts an opposite force.
    b.1girl's weight x chair
2.buoyancy(upthrust) due to air x gravity

    Q2
a.the weight of the skydiver and it depends on the force applied....acceleration due to gravity(g)
b.the upthrust of air and it depends on the density of air at the that altitude

Your Welcome Not too sure of the answers but sure enough............................Pleased to help,Alex-The Great.......

There is "helping" and then there is "just giving them the answer". You did the later. The former aids in their understanding, the later doesn't.

And then there is "just giving them a wrong answer" which is what he really did.

That might actually turn out to be educational. But I doubt it.
