    Hi,

I have often read that regular silicon chips work because of certain quantum physics principles, but I've been unable to find more information on this (I always come across quantum computing instead, which is not what I'm looking for). Could someone confirm/deny and possibly explain a bit?

You might find more by searching the term "semiconductor." That's closer to what you're looking into.

Some descriptions available here, but there's certainly more depending on what you're after.
