I would like to hear your opinions on some shows, people and the credebility of that network.
First of all there is a show with Michio Kaku where he presents some seemingly(?) very far off ideas about building spheres around star systems or fighting against alien invasions and whatnot.
So my question is weather mr. Kaku really believes in what he does there or is he just rolling along with the science popularization and doesnt care about the means?

In another show someone who believed that we are in a very good computer simulation and that when u look things close enough there are pixels or quanta and he firmly said: "All matter, energy, space and time is quantized" Is this true?
His another arguement was that things come to be or change when we observe them, like in a computer game. Im aware that making measurements in particle physics will change their positions(?) or energy(?) but has that got to do anything with macroscopic bodies?
On top of that they were trying to somehow fit god into Garret Lisi's E8 theory even though he said he didnt believe in a creator.

Kaku likes to sell books and say outrageous things that get him attention. He is not credible and should be ignored.

It might be true, but there is no current theory or experimental evidence to support such a statement. If the speaker stated this as a fact he is either ignorant or a liar.

    No.

Science and religion are distinct. This sounds a bit silly, but the Discovery channel is often silly. I like some of their shows, but not their pieces on science -- rather a poor comentary on a science channel. Discover magazine is no better.

    Here is Lisi's paper. http://arxiv.org/PS_cache/arxiv/pdf/...711.0770v1.pdf

Scientific American is pretty good. The American Scientist is excellent.

The show Sci-Fi Science (where Michio Kaku talks about various Sci-Fi topics) is mainly for entertainment. I would say the point is to try and be as scientific as possible while still getting to the desired conclusions, so it's still sci-fi.
