Does anyone have any knowledge of spin networks? They're used in Loop Quantum Gravity.

I was looking around the subject and read that LQG can be shown to be a type of string-net condensate. I don't know what that really is but the point is that researchers are now attempting to use these string net condensates from LQG to show that fundamental particles are emergent.

Anyone else heard of this? This is the first time I've heard of LQG being extended to derive matter.

    "Catching up" with String theory?

A good keyword for looking into this is "Quantum Graphity".

I don't know much about them other than that they were invented by Penrose and the LQG crowd is somewhat enamored with them. Penrose talks about them a bit in The Road to Reality.

Penrose invented them, whatever they are; http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/foam/.
    "Quantum Graphity"
    Completely new to me.
