You drop a nail in there, 13 feet, and puncture a cartridge? That's about as basic as you can get for air pressure propulsion... I'd upgrade to an air compressor and a mechanism to release the gas quickly to propel the "mortar"

That is one of the more stupid demonstrations that I have seen. A candidate for Dumb and Dumber III.

You two jerks are a menace to yourselves and those around you.

You could improve that device by destroying it before you hit something that should not be hit with the projectile.

Why not get into model rocketry with a club that includes people who actually know what they are doing and launch their rockets in a safe place ?

I didnt think a science forum would have anyone that would be rude.

    So what ?

That changes very little other that to clearly define the projectile of the moment, which merely accentuates the inanity of the project. You have launched a powered projectile which is unguided and therefore subject to causing problems. The fact that it is quite light and has a small terminal velocity is quite irrelevant.

Why not do as I suggested and join a model rocketry club and maybe, just maybe, actually learn a little bit of physics?

That is good alternative to continued demonstration of ignorance and irresponsibilty.

Fools who monkey around with projectile launchers that don't understand are just asking for trouble.

You use big words: you must be very smart. You didnt disprove what i just said, You just denied it. Im just a kid having fun, that doesnt make me ignorant. It doesnt take any skill to put down what others have done.

You are pretty clearly an irresponsible little brat playiing around with compressed gas and aerodynamics that you do not understand. You clearly are not interested in actually learning anything, else you might pay attention the useful suggestions that you have been given.

I really do not give ia damn if your feelings are hurt. I am much more concerned that more intellignet lurkers, who might become useful members of society, do ot emulate you.

Intelligent people take good advice from whatever source is available.

Fools ignore advice that they don't like.

In which category are you placing yourself ?

Dr Rocket needs to learn to give answers first and add constructive criticism when necessary. Otherwise he just flips and spews insults at people with questions.
    I've read his posts.
    Forget him.

I'm with DrRocket on this. What you guys have done is just stupid and dangerous.

You wouldnt go about firing a nail gun into the air would you? The only difference is, a nail gun would probably be more accurate in its direction.

    I agree with DrRocket here...
That's how many people in our country gets their fingers off, except they are mixing sulfur and phosphorus, or other home-made stuff that explodes. That's not the point, the point is, that they are irresposible. My friend once almost burned down the house of his. He had to replace a wall, because some of his BS burned while... cooking. Yes, he actually cooked something DRY, what explodes...

Anyway, go join a rocket club, i bet there's many at US...
Sorry for my poor English skills, I've learned it by myself... Trying to improve them, feel free to criticize, hehe.
