    Simple question

    Lightspeed is the maximum speed.

    How, therefore, do tachyons and other such particles travel faster than the speed of light? surely this alone proves lightspeed is not a speed cap

    This would be true only if tachyons and other such particles actually exist. There is no evidence for that.

    Yeah, they're a staple of science fiction, but ..... not science fact. Not saying they can't possibly exist, but there's a very good chance they don't.
