    Hi!
I am currently working on a Kelvin Water Dropper in school, and I have succeeded in constructing a well-working machine. However, I need to measure the voltage, but this requires an instrument that can handle up to at least a few 10kV, and that works by influence.
Have you got any suggestions to where I can find such an instrument?

Good luck finding a reasonably priced volt meter to do that.

If you are just demonstrating a charge, and don't need an actual voltage reading, use a common neon bulb, tissue, etc. to show the static electricity effect.

    Just google "high voltage probe".

edit: standard high voltage probes will not work for that application.

If you have an ammeter you can connect, say, 100 million ohms to the HV output and then measure the current, and see if it matches with the value predicted by E=IR

This is not really recommended though.
