Hi, I have been doing research on quartz crystals and I found out that it has very interesting property of giving out electrical energy when mechanical energy is applied. However, I am unable to conclude whether this is conservation of energy at work. Because in a resonance quartz oscillator, the quartz fork vibrates almost forever with minimal dampening, while giving out electricity continuously. How is it able to give out electrical energy while vibrating constantly-meaning that the energy in the system is constant? (similar to SHM).

Is there conservation of energy, or is there some sort of energy being given to the Quartz material while vibrating?

    Thank you
