    so far all i have aquired as to my knowledge was that when stars with one solar mass dies this is what happens; it exhausts all its hydrogen in to helium .then the helium fuses to become carbon. at this stage the star is now a red giant, a large expansion of the outer layer. then this outer planetary nebula drifts off, leaving the core behind-white dwarf. then it becomes a black dwarf.

    in the case of stars with 10 solar masses, they die a different death. im sure most of you are aware that they go off in to a massive explosion known as a supernova, and eventually becomes a tiny, very dense Neutron Star. If the core is much greater than 3 solar masses, the core contracts to become a Black Hole.
    these explanations are very (brief) so dont consider them too seriously.

    now my question here is that what are electroweak stars? all i know is that they are powered by the conversion of the fundamental subatomic particles themselves known as quarks which make up the protons and neutrons. but how will these stars die? how much energy do these conversions give out? what is so special about these type of stars?

    any help would be appreciated, thank you

    Apparently they generate energy by converting quarks to leptons....the problem that I have with this is charge conservation. I think it is considered problematic to convert a plus charge particle to a minus??

    I do not think we have ever observed a quark to lepton conversion. But, the best way to calculate energy given off would be to look at the mass difference between the up and down quarks and the proposed leptons to be generated, and run the mass through E = MC^2. Then multiply that energy by the number of particles to be converted.

    A star made out of leptons solely sounds pretty strange to me, and they are supposedly extremely rare, hence special

    The problem I have is that neutron stars become so in order to remove the electromagnetic repulsive forces so that they may become denser....a star made out of purely negatively charged particles would make the star larger, would it not? Great, no more strong force, but doesn't the strong hold particles together, not push them apart? I would think the electroweak star would just about instantly explode due to electromagnetic repulsion. Hence it would die via a massive explosion. Due to all the electrons, ALLOT of synchrotron radiation would be produced. Perhaps if there are any hadrons left on the outside of the electroweak star, you may get a bunch of cherenkov radiation.

    so is the energy relased by the conversion of quarks to leptons through the electroweak force, more efficient than a hydrogen-helium conversion??

    and also there is a possible symmetry link between quark-and leptons which is known as the Quark–lepton complementarity. this fundamental symmetry posseses the explanation of a possibility that leptons will also come in three colors like the quarks. Such conclusions could be drawn out to reproduce the standard model in which then the quark-lepton may be symmetrically unified in our laws of nature.
